Georgetown County investigators are seeking help from the public as they try to find the person responsible for an armed robbery that occurred at Conway National Bank in Pawleys Island today.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said it happened at about 10:30 a.m. when a white man walked in and demanded money from the employee.
The suspect then exited through the front door with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot in a southern direction of travel.
The suspect is described as a white male approximately 35-45 years of age, approximately 5’09” in height and short gray hair and glasses. The suspect was wearing a black baseball cap with “Police” on it, a black leather jacket, and military style cargo pants.
No one was injured during the incident.
 Deputies established a perimeter and canvassed the area with negative results, Cuthbertson said.
Anyone that can identify the suspect or has any information about the robbery is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 546-5101.
Anonymous tips can also be sent by using Text-A-Tip. Just dial 274637 from any text enabled cell phone, and text the word “GCSOTIP” followed by your message.
This was the second bank robbery in the county this week.
On Monday, the NBSC Bank in Murrells Inlet was robbed under similar circumstances. Cuthbertson was asked if the two robberies may be related.
“It is too early in the investigation to make that assumption,” she responded.
