The Center for Heirs' Property Preservation, a nonprofit organization assisting low-income individuals with heirs' property, in collaboration with Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, is sponsoring a free seminar Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, 1230 Highmarket St. in Georgetown.
Information regarding the issues surrounding heirs' property will be presented. This seminar is open to the public. Persons with issues or questions concerning heirs' property should attend.
The Center for Heirs' Property Preservation has a mission of preserving heirs' property and history while promoting equitable growth throughout the Lowcountry counties of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Colleton and Georgetown. The center accomplishes this mission by providing educational and legal services to:
* Low-weath heirs' property owners.
* Nonprofit organizations serving heirs' property owners.
* Attorneys defending and judges handling heirs' property cases
* The community at large in its service area.
The Center is supported by grants from The Ford Foundation, Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, South Carolina Bar Foundation, Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, Charleston County Government, City of North Charleston's Community Development Block Grant Program and the City of Charleston.
