Andrews mother of three killed in accident

Published on 12/5/2008

An Andrews mother of three who died Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident is being remembered as a fun person who people loved being around.
Pam Connelly, 42, died in the accident at about 1:15 a.m. Friday on Ethridge Road, a dirt road about four miles east of Andrews, according to Coroner Kenny Johnson.
S.C. Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins says Connelly was the driver — and only occupant — of a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. She lost control  of the vehicle and struck a tree. The vehicle overturned.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated, but Johnson said speed may have been a factor.
Connelly’s daughters, Sammi and Kelsey, are cheerleaders at Andrews High School. Her son, K.C. is a seventh-grader at Rosemary Middle School.
Sally Swineford, co-owner of the River Room Restaurant on Front Street said Connelly had been a waitress there for about six years.
“Everyone here is in shock,” she said Friday
Swineford said Connelly was a woman who was “full of life and laughed a lot.” She said she was a “major part of the River Room family. Our heart goes out to her family.”
Connelly also worked part time at the Big Tuna on Front Street.
Co-worker Karine Forgette also described Connelly as a fun-loving person.
“She was very outgoing, and the customers loved her,” Forgette said. “She had a great smile and great presence that will be missed.”

Sam you and your family are in my prayers. Love Baker Family

Janey shall always be smiling in my mind. I hope everyone who knows her will remember her that way! She wouldn't want it any other way. In life we will lose everything we love at one time or another. This is one of lifes lessons... Knowing this, we can only hold time dear to us, We can only love while we can. Don't take the negative, but take the postitive. Be happy Janey's smiling and laughing in our memories. Kev' I wish you strength at this time.

The news came as a horrifying shock to me. Ms. Pam was my cheerleading coach for the Rec and she is the one who inspired me to continure cheering through school [which I decided to stop for personal reasons] I know her two daughters very well. I just hope that she will shine through Sammi and Kelsey for they remind me so much of her.... Just stay strong. you guys =]

TO THE CONNELLEY FAMILY. I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS. I'VE HAD THE PRIVELEGE OF WORKING WITH MS PAM @ THE RIVER ROOM LAST YEAR & WHEN I WAS 1ST TRAINED @ THE RIVER ROOM I WAS TOLD TO REFER TO MS PAM AS "MAMA." SHE WAS SUCH A NICE, SWEET, AND FUN LADY TO BE AROUND. SHE WOULD ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH & IF I LOOKED KINDA SAD, SHE'D TELL ME TO SMILE AND OF COURSE WE'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER HER SMILE. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY!!! "R.I.P. MS PAM"

To Concerned: You obviously are having difficulty moving from your anger phase of your grieving process (it follows denial). You should seek help elsewhere, not this site where friends and family are trying to help each other grieve the loss of Pam. But if you must know, no, she was not rich financially, but she was rich with love for everyone and life itself. She didn't care about material things. I knew her very well. She didn't live in a mansion, didn't care about the brand name of the clothes she wore, and didn't even know the names of wealthy, influential people to drop if she should have the need to. I attended her funeral this afternoon, didn't see any limosines or governmental officials there, just a lot of people that knew her....something you can't say. So please, call your local congressman or whomever you feel can validate your inappropriate feelings, those of us that knew Pam are tired of hearing about it. One more thing, we felt concern for the family you are referring to and if we knew them personally we would have posted comments for the family, too. Death in the paper is certainly not a competition.

To concerned in g-town: You are why people hate people like you. You are so totally out of line to be posting your comments on this site. Take your complaints elsewhere. This is not the appropriate forum.

The tragedy of this news has reached Texas. I had the opportunity to meet Pam , Kevin , and their children some years ago . She was an awesome Lady , she made you feel welcome immediately , she adored her children as well as her husband. I will remember her laugh , her smile , her laid back look at life's issues. She loved life , grabbed it by the horns and dared it to tangle with her. My heart aches for this family , I know they are hurting . God be with them .

This is for Concerned in Georgetown: Please express your frustration elsewhere, such as a letter to the editor and not under this story. You are a very cruel person for trying to make Pam's family feel guilty because their mother is being remembered. Mr. Thompson was a hero. We know it because the paper reported it. They did a good job with his story. You are grieving and want to blame someone, so the paper is your target. That is fine, Just not under this particular story please. God be with you in your time of anguish.

KC you have always held a special place in my heart, you and Madison have been friends for a long time and our heart breaks for you and your family. To concerned in g-town, how dare you take your frustrations out on the Connelly family because the paper did an article on their beautiful mother and put her picture in and not your friends. First of all you need to learn how to spell. Maybe most of this gentleman's friends don't have computers or know how to make comments. Who knows why his friends and family did not make comments. I personally did not know this man or his family but when I heard about it, I immediately prayed for them. That is what you should be doing instead of putting the paper down because they wrote this article for this lovely lady. God be with you, God bless the Connelly family and the other family who lost their loved one last week.

Pam's father is Sam Greene (not Whittington as the obituary states). She also has 2 brothers (Steve and Jim) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was amazing.

I am so sorry for the family of Pam. I worked with her and you could not ask for a nicer, funny, or more out going person. She will be missed dearly. May God be with her husband and children at this difficult time. May she rest in peace!

Mrs. Staats, as a former cheerleader sponsor, your kind gesture to our two cheerleaders makes me realize how blessed we are to experience love from multiple angles. You all represent the greatest cheerleader sponsors and missionaries found anywhere. I know the remarks were encouraging to Sammi and Kelsey because they love cheerleading with all their heart! My prayers are with them and the entire family as they face the days ahead, for this community has been hit hard with deaths and tragedies within the last few weeks. God is able to carry all of you through these most difficult times. Be encouraged in the Lord.

What could I say about Pam that hasn't been said? In a word...WONDERFUL. She is a person I will always cherrish having known. So many hearts are saddened and I only hope she's watching to know how many loved her. She has raised a great family. Something she was soooo proud of. Kevin, you were two peas in a pod! My heart goes out to you as well as my prayers. Hold strong and remember she loved you all.

To concerned, what is your problem? I did not know the man who died in the fire but I knew he was a hero because I read about what he did in this newspaper. If I recall, it was the headline story. You can't get any higher coverage than the headline of a paper. Stop your whining and lets worry about whether his family is OK and if the family of this woman who died is OK. This is no time for name calling. To Mrs. Connelly's family, you are in my prayers.

Our Pam. What sad, sad news. This didn't happen. Not possible. A world without Pam Connelly is unimaginable....unthinkable. She was beautiful - both inside and out. And unforgettable. There was something about her that made you feel at home. She was an open book...that woman loved a good joke... she was warm and loving...She was herself - nothing more - nothing less. With a mass of strawberry blond hair, bright, sparkling eyes, a profusion of freckles and a big smile and laugh.....she thought she was too heavy - she was full figured and gorgeous- she was absolutely perfect. We are bewildered and distraught and totally grateful to have spent time in her presence. We are better for having known her. We love you Pam.
