A Georgetown man was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina after accidentally shooting himself Saturday afternoon.
According to Police Capt. Nelson Brown, the 25 to 30 year old man was climbing a fence by the car wash in the 2300 block of Highmarket Street when a gun in his pocket discharged.
The bullet struck the man in the hip area.
Brown said the man was dropped off at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital emergency room around 3 p.m.
