Tisdale elected to Andrews Town Council

The newest member of Andrews Town Council was sworn into office Thursday night.
David Tisdale was elected Tuesday to fill the unexpired seat that belonged to Michael Shaw who resigned in late 2011.
In the runoff election Tuesday, Tisdale received 158 votes while his challenger, Denise Davis received 93 votes.
There were six under votes.
Only 257 of the town's 1629 voters cast a ballot in the runoff election.
It was an unusual election because there were no registered candidates for the seat.
A write-in election was held Jan. 3. Tisdale and Davis received the most write-ins but neither had enough to be declared a winner which is why the runoff was required.
“I appreciate everyone who voted for me. I have made a commitment to represent all the people as we make Andrews a better place,” Tisdale said, adding he is ready to tackle the town’s budget. “It needs to be gone over with a fine tooth comb to make sure money is not being wasted.”
Tisdale, 72, was born in England but his family moved to Andrews when he was 12 years old.
Tisdale, a Citadel graduate, spent 26 years in the Army before moving to Hemingway where he spent 15 years operating a flooring and gift shop business.
When he married Allison Dilliard 11 years ago, he moved back to Andrews.
He was on the ballot for another town council seat in November and received only one more vote than his opponent, so a runoff was required. He lost during the runoff in December.
