SCHOOL DISTRICT SWEARS IN NEW BOARD MEMBER

Published on 1/11/2013

Georgetown County’s newest school board member was sworn into office Tuesday night. Richard Kerr, who has been trying since 2008 to win a position on the board, is now the District 6 seat holder. Waccamaw Intermediate School Principal Dr. Tim Carnahan held the Bible as Board Chairman Jim Dumm administered the oath. Kerr won the seat by defeating Peggy Wheeler-Cribb by 22 votes. The outcome was protested by Cribb but the State Election Commission sided with Kerr and ruled there would not be a new election for the seat.
