Andrews police arrested a County Line Road woman July 13 for unlawful child neglect after two witnesses saw her 2-year-old child unclothed and unsupervised on the side of the road.

Police responded to a call about 12:45 p.m. from a Saints Delight Road man, who was traveling down County Line Road headed north and saw the child on the side of the road. The complainant said the child was not supervised and moved into his lane, so he had to slow down to keep from hitting the child. Another driver, who lives in Hopkins, S.C., said she was traveling behind the complainant and also noticed the child alone on the road.

The responding officer contacted the child's mother, who was asleep inside the residence with her boyfriend at the time the witnesses called police, and took photographs of the residence.

Social Services arrived at about 1:45 p.m. and made contact with the child's grandmother, who lives on Gapway Road. The child was placed with the subject's mother until a disposition of the child's best interest could be decided.

The case remains active.

* A South Park Avenue woman called police July 19 to report a woman making threats against her brother and everyone in the residence.

According to the complainant, the subject, a Howell Street woman, came into the yard and began "to beat on the door" and started "making threats." The complainant's brother, the father of the subject's child, also told police the subject threatened to "burn the house down."

The complainant said she has a witness who heard the threats.

* An employee of Allied Credit Company in Andrews attempted to cash a $4,500 check July 18 to pay off a $730.51 debt owed by a Seaboard Road woman but discovered the check was counterfeit.

The subject received $3,769.49 in change. When she was contacted, she said she did not know the check was counterfeit but asked to pay the money back in installments. The company refused the offer, stating the money should be returned "expeditiously."

* A North Beech Street man told police July 18 that while he was in the hospital someone broke into his home and stole $120 in coins that he had placed on a table stand. He said they entered through the front door and used some type of object to pry it open. The person or persons who broke in left two fingerprints, which were taken into investigation.

The complainant said he believes the subject was someone who knew he was in the hospital and "took advantage" of the situation.

* A West Oakland Street woman called police July 16 to report a man -- who also lives on West Oakland Street -- had gone into her home and taken her cell phone (valued at $50). She said she had left her door unlocked so her friends could enter the house and the subject took the phone from her purse.

She also stated the subject, whom she has a restraining order against, ran from the house when she went to call the police. The complainant said two witnesses saw the man running from the residence.

The case will be turned over to investigation.

* Police arrested a Howell Street man for drunkenness-disorderly conduct and breach of trust motor vehicle July 12.

A small group of people -- including the complainant, a resident of Devonshire Apartments, and the subject -- appeared at Andrews PD to explain what happened. The complainant said the subject had possession of her car, a Mercury Topaz, on July 11. She said he got the car from her father. The subject allegedly parked the car in the Citgo Station parking lot, and when he went back outside the car was gone.

She said the subject told her he had called police, reported the incident and an investigator arrived at the scene. However, police confirmed this was not the case.

The subject, according to the report, "was staggering" and appeared "highly intoxicated" while at the station. Police arrested the subject and transported him to Georgetown County Detention Center.

The complainant's car will be entered into the NCIC as a breach of trust motor vehicle. The case remains active.

* Police arrested a West Cottonwood Street man July 13 for possession of a stolen motorcycle when an officer responded to an accident at North Beech Street. After the driver was transported to the emergency room, personnel on the scene located pieces of the motorcycle, including the VIN.

When central dispatch ran the VIN, it was discovered the motorcycle -- a 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000 -- had been stolen from Myrtle Beach.

The officer talked to the subject at the hospital, who said he did not know the motorcycle was stolen. The case is under investigation.

* A 17-year-old juvenile will not be allowed back to the Andrews Recreation Center after allegedly threatening the center's director July 9.

According to the complainant, the subject would not move off the basketball court to allow younger children to play on the court. The complainant said the juvenile threatened him numerous times.
