A 3-year-old child who wandered away from home at about 8 p.m. Monday was found safe at a nearby restaurant.
Deputies were sent to a home on Duncan Ave. in Pawleys Island where a woman said she discovered her toddler was missing after she finished cooking. She said she believes the child crawled out of a kitchen window which was open and has no screen.
There was a chair pushed up to the window.
While the deputy was on the scene, a call was received from the Pawleys Island Police chief that the child had been located at Habanera's restaurant.
EMS was called and the child was determined to be OK.
The child was returned to his mother but a copy of the police report was forwarded to the Department of Social Services.

Severe spice reaction

An 18-year-old may possibly be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor after a 14-year-old was rushed to the hospital because of a drug reaction.
Deputies and EMS were sent to Coral Bay Drive in Murrells Inlet Monday afternoon where the young teen had collapsed beside the road. A resident said the teen was foaming at the mouth when he fell.
He was responsive by the time help arrived.
A deputy met him at the hospital and he said he had smoked spice earlier in the day with the 18-yaer-old. He said he uses the drug about once a month and had suffered a similar reaction about a year ago.
The teen's father said he wanted the 18-year-old prosecuted for supplying the drug.
The deputy notes he searched the state statutes and found nothing pertaining to spice.
"Without any statute for the matter, it cannot be determined if a contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge could be brought out," the deputy stated in his report.

Man accused of molestation, theft

A Pawleys Island woman who helped out a man in need says that man tried to molest her son.
The woman called 911 Dec. 1 and said the man — who is a known drug user in the area — knocked on her door late on the night of Nov. 30 and asked to use the restroom. She agreed but noticed he was in the bathroom a long time.
When she went to check on him, she saw he was placing a syringe above the medicine cabinet.
Because of his jittery condition, the woman allowed the man to sleep it off on the couch.
During the night the woman was awakened by her 11-year-old son who was screaming. When the woman went to her son's room, he showed her his pants were down.
The man was on the couch shivering and shaking and denied touching the child.
The man is also accused of stealing $250 from the woman's purse. He ran out of the house. He dropped $45 as he was running but got away with the rest of the money.
So far, the man has not been arrested.
 
TV at the DC destroyed

A 29-year-old Myrtle Beach woman is accused of destroying a television at the Georgetown County Detention Center Nov. 28.
The woman refused to go to her cell when told to do so. She reportedly grabbed the cable from the back of the TV, pulling the cable mechanism from the set.
The TV was a "total loss," the report states.
