A 36-year-old man from DeKalb Street in Georgetown was found with meat in his pants as police were arresting him for a disturbance.
The man was allegedly involved in an altercation with another man at Food Lion on North Fraser Street at about 7:45 p.m. Sept. 12. He reportedly said he was going to get a gun and kill the other man. He then fled the scene on a bicycle before officers arrived.
While searching the area, the man was spotted at the corner of Duke and DeKalb Streets.
As he was being patted down, police found a large pack of meat in the crotch of the man’s pants.
He had allegedly stolen the meat from Piggly Wiggly.
The man denied the theft, saying he was given the meat by his sister and was taking it home to cook.
The man did not explain why he had the food inside his pants.
Security video from Piggly Wiggly was reviewed and the man was seen walking out the store without paying for the meat.

Forged court papers

More charges may be filed against a 27-year-old Butts Street woman accused of forging probation papers.
On Friday,  a deputy met a woman who said she is in charge of supervising the suspect while she is on probation.
She said the woman has been ordered to perform community service and fill out a public service time sheet.
The supervisor provided police with two of the forms filled out by the suspect between February and July on this year.
The forms indicate the woman provided services at fire stations.
“The forms are obviously a forgery because they show she was at two different places at the same time,” the police report states.
Police are expected to meet with the accused this week to determine if charges will be filed.

Man says jail a “walk in the park”

While in the area of Ridge and West Streets in the City of Georgetown early Friday, police found a 39-year-old man sleeping in an abandoned building across from Coastal Recycling.
Police told the man he was trespassing and had to leave but he refused to comply and also did not give his name when asked.
The man — reportedly high on alcohol and marijuana — claimed he was traveling down from New York and “landed here in Georgetown,” police say.
The man was sitting on a mattress on the floor started to put his hands in his pockets. When he continued to try to reach in his pocket, officers picked him up and found he had been sitting on a kitchen knife.
After he was placed in handcuffs, the man reportedly told police he did not care he was being arrested because he had been to jail already and jail is nothing to him.
He said he had also been to prison so jail “is a walk in the park.”
The man reportedly told the officers they “would be nothing on the streets” without their badges.
He was taken to jail.

Lots of beer stolen

Horry police responded to Southside Patty’s restaurant in Garden City Friday after someone broke into an outside cooler and stole $600 worth of bottled beer.
The complainant said the same thing happened about a year ago after she kicked a patron out of the business.
She said she saw that person again three days before last week’s theft.

Walmart employee theft

A 24-year-old Georgetown man is accused of stealing from the Garden City Walmart where he was a contract worker Sept. 10.
He reportedly took two cell phones out of their boxes and concealed them in his clothing.
At the end of his shift he left without paying for the phones, Horry police say.
Warrants for his arrest were expected to be signed.
