A 65 year old man was killed when the car in which was riding was struck by a vehicle on Highway 701 in Kensington at about 5:55 p.m. Friday.
He has been identified by Deputy Coroner Paulette Radcliffe as Tommy Hardwick Sr. of Jacobs Ave.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said Harwick was the passenger in a  2002 Buick that was traveling on Jacobs Avenue. The driver, Hardwick’s 44 year old son, stopped at the stop sign but then pulled onto Highway 701 in front of a  2003 Yukon that was traveling south, Kelly said.
The driver of the Buick and one of the two passengers in the Yukon were taken to the hospital. The extent of the Buick driver’s injuries is unknown but he is expected to survive.
Kelly said the passenger from the Yukon suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the Yukon, Floyd Smith of Aynor, was uninjured.
