Cameron Nelson Ahalt, 12, of Pawleys Island, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

Born in Silver Spring, Md., he was a son of Sean and Kristina Ahalt. He was an honor student at Waccamaw Elementary School and Waccamaw Middle School, where he was also a band member. Cameron was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 360. His sports included golf, basketball, baseball, and swimming.
Surviving are: his parents of Pawleys Island; his brother Brandon Ahalt of Pawleys Island; paternal grandparents, Jim and Anita Ahalt of Pawleys Island; maternal grandparents, Herbert and Marianne Hagstrom of Northport, N.Y.; aunts and uncles, Nancy and Dave Milkey of Granby, Mass., and Kellie and David Gantt of Pawleys Island; and cousins, Christopher and Brady Gantt of Pawleys Island.

Ms. Bachmeier was born in Mt. Ranier, Md., daughter of the late Karl and Cacilia Bachmeier Arch. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ida Weinelt, Estella Hibbs, and Dorothy Bachmeier; also her stepfather, Anton Arch.
Survivors include: two sons, Andrew Newberg (Aida) of Hughesville, Md., and Gary Newberg (Joan) of Waldorf, Md.; three daughters, Alyce Gallagher (Bob) of Phoenixville, Pa., Kristina Schmitz (John) of Murrells Inlet, and Lori Newberg of San Francisco; one sister, Doris Riess (Ernie) of Brandywine, Md.; one granddaughter, Chanel Porter of Raleigh, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bedgood was born Feb. 27, 1928 in Chase City, Va., a daughter of the late Albert Cleveland Cape and the late Mae Bell McClain Cape.
She was a former resident of Augusta, Ga. and had resided in Georgetown for the past few years. She was a retired sales associate with Belk Inc. in Augusta and was an active member of Graceway Baptist Church for many years.
Surviving are: one step-daughter, Constance Gail Reid (Jack) of Thompson, Ga.; three sisters, Annie Beal Dilworth of Greer, Mary C. Casey of Georgetown and Algcan Motes of Belvedere; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two step-sons, Terry Craig Bedgood and Ronald Taylor Bedgood.

Alice L. Buckheit of Murrells Inlet died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 29, 1923, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Hassler Cody.
Mrs. Buckheit was an Army Cadet nurse at Bellevue Hospital, New York, N.Y., during World War II. She was a retired nurse, Union No. 1199.
She resided at Garden Manor Village, Murrells Inlet for the past year and was a member of St. Michael's Church, Garden City Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Buckheit; brother, Joseph Cody; sisters, Ann O'Connor, Eleanor Modie, and Mary O'Neill.
Survivors include: four sons, Bruce (Patricia), Daniel, Francis, and John (Laura); four daughters, Barbara Murray (Robert), Kathleen Agnitsch (John), Mariann Megna (Martin), and Theresa Speck; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister Katherine D'Imperio.

Hoyt Jullian Collins Jr., 50, of Hemingway, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 in the Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church of Hemingway. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the Lake Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Collins was born in Hemingway, a son of Hoyt J. Collins Sr. and the late Carol Louise Coker Poston. He was a farmer and attended Hemingway schools.
Surviving are: his father of the home; sister, Angela McKenzie (Rod) of Hemingway; nephews, Joey D. Cook III (Crystal) and Joedy Cook; and a great-nephew, Jayce Cook.
Curtis J. Daggett
Curtis Joel Daggett, 74, of Murrells Inlet, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 in Charleston, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The family received friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession formed at 11 a.m. to Oakdale Cemetery. Graveside services with military honors took place at the cemetery.

Mr. Daggett was a school bus driver for Horry County schools in Myrtle Beach, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Agnes Darby, 98, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Darby was born Sept. 17, 1910 in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Sam Rice and the late Lula Hutchinson Rice. She attended elementary schools in Georgetown County and was a homemaker. She attended Trinity AME Church.
Survivors are: a son, William Darby of Detroit, Mich.; sisters, Lila Myers of Bridgeport, Conn. and Geneva Williams of Columbia.

Mamie Calhoun Freeland, 90, of Myrtle Beach, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Freeland was born in Conway, a daughter of the late James and Julia Mae Calhoun. Mrs. Freeland taught in numerous schools in the area and retired from Woodland Park Elementary School in 1976. She and her husband Ralph were charter members of Surfside United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Freeland; daughter, Julia Frances Freeland of Surfside Beach; her brothers and sisters, Robert Calhoun, James Calhoun Jr., Thurman Calhoun, Julia Mae Hughes, Lila Glasgow, Edna Small, Roberta Thompson, Raymond Calhoun, Chloe Dannelly, and Conrad Calhoun.

Walter Green, 76, of Georgetown, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at his home.

Mr. Green was born Oct. 22, 1932 in Georgetown, a son of the late Henry Green and the late Florence Kelly Green. He was educated in Georgetown County public schools. He was a retired construction worker.

Anna Hartmayer
Anna Rita Fratto Hartmayer of Georgetown, (formerly of Wilton, Conn.) wife of the late Warren E. Hartmayer Sr., died Nov. 12, 2008 in Pennsylvania at the home of her daughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima, Wilton, Conn. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. Internment will be private.

Born Oct. 21, 1925 in Norwalk, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Francis J. Fratto and Victoria Talarico Fratto.
For many years Mrs. Hartmayer was the business manager of Ballet Etudes Dance Academy and Ballet Etudes Repertory Company working alongside her brother, the late Russel Fratto.
She was an active volunteer throughout her life. While living in Wilton for over 35 years, she was involved at Our Lady of Fatima Church and School and volunteered at the School Sisters of Notre Dame Motherhouse. After retiring to South Carolina she continued volunteering at St. Cyprian's Church and Georgetown Hospital. She loved to play golf with her ladies group at Wedgefield Plantation.
Survivors include: her children, sons, Warren E. Hartmayer Jr. (Jacque) of Brookfield, Conn. and Robert F. Hartmayer (Stephanie) of Shelton, Conn. Daughters, Marianne H. Mansfield (Jeffrey) of Bartonsville, Penn. and Tory H. Prizio (David) of New Milford, Conn.; nine grandchildren, Staff Sergeant David J. Hartmayer, USAF, Staff Sergeant Michael R. Hartmayer, USMC, Specialist Matthew Mansfield, US Army National Guard, Jeffrey Mansfield, John Mansfield, Jessica Ann Hartmayer, Daniel D. Ms. Heckman was born Dec. 29, 1989 in McConnellsburg, Penn., a daughter of the late Tracey Heckman and Leigh Ana Brill Young. She attended Waccamaw Elementary School in Pawleys Island and Thurgood Marshall Middle School in St. Petersburg and was currently attending St. Petersburg College. She formerly attended First Assembly of God in Georgetown.
She was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Lee Avant in 1998.
Surviving are: her mother of St. Petersburg; her maternal grandmother, Norma G. Brill of Myrtle Beach; her paternal grandmother, Patricia Heckman of Chambersburg, Penn.; four brothers, Christopher Brill of Andrews, Charles Michael Staggs of Myrtle Beach, Christian Heckman of Myrtle Beach and Gunner Heckman of Chambersburg, Penn.; three sisters, Shannon Heckman of St. Petersburg, Elizabeth Powell of Ocean Side, Calif. and Salena Paige Avant of Georgetown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
James Izzard
James Izzard, 80, of Myrtle Beach, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at Prince George Healthcare Center in Georgetown.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel in Georgetown. Burial followed in Morning Glory Cemetery, under the direction of Wilds Funeral Home.
Mr. Izzard was born Aug. 21, 1928 in Georgetown, a son of the late James Izzard Sr. and the late Nancy Monroe Izzard. He attended Georgetown County public schools and Sandy Grove Baptist Church. He was a retired furniture mover.
Survivors include: his daughter, Eunice Hasty of Loris; his brother, Richard Izzard; sisters, Mattie Wilson, Mildred Sanders and Mozalla Graham, all of Georgetown; and four grandchildren.
Ulyssess Jackson
Ulyssess Jackson, 61, of Georgetown, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Palmetto Richland Health Care Center in Columbia.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Howard Davis officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home of Georgetown.
Mr. Jackson, a son of Minnie B. Jackson and the late Burgess P. Jackson, was born April 29, 1947 in Georgetown. He was educated in Georgetown County public schools. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Church and also served in the United States Navy, where he received an honorable discharge.
Survivors are: his mother of Georgetown; five sisters, Elizabeth Henry of Philadelphia, Penn., Olivia Winns, Mildred Dobbins, Harriett Jackson and Patricia Jackson, all of Georgetown; four brothers, Paul Jackson of Panama, Fla., Allen Jackson of Georgetown, Keith Jackson of Chesapeake Bay, Va., and Glenn Jackson of Brunswick, Ga.; and two brothers-in-law.
Toini P. Lambert
Toini Tellervo Punkka Lambert, 88, of Johnsonville, widow of Melton Lambert, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 in a Florence hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 in Johnsonville United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, was in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery.
Mrs. Lambert was born in Jacobson, Minn., a daughter of the late Jacob and Katri Leppanen Punkka. After working in the school system for many years, she graduated from Francis Marion University at the age of 60 and taught until the age of 75 at Florence School District No. 5. She was an active member for 60 years in Johnsonville United Methodist Church. She was also a lay speaker for the church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was predeceased by a son, Jim Melton "Champ" Lambert and a son-in-law, John Badger.
Surviving are: her children, Richard Lambert (Janet) of Florence, Kathy Badger of Hemingway, Bryant "Bingo" Lambert (Shelby) of Picayune, Miss. and Gay Lawrimore (James) of Johnsonville; sister, Elma Anderson of Duluth, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lewis was born in Erie, Illinois, a son of the late Merle and Ella Lewis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a Rotarian, a member of Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, and a member of the Illinois State Board of the American Heart Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma.
Surviving are: a son, Mark Lewis of Lexington; a daughter, Sally Urbanski of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren; Emily Kramer of Homewood, Ill. and Amanda Crowell of Davenport, Iowa; two step-grandchildren, Dr. Cinnamon Sullivan of Decatur, Ga. and Tiffany Vincent of Loganville, Ga.; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Myers was born Nov. 26, 1979 in Georgetown, a son of Joann King Myers and the late Thurman Myers. He was educated in Georgetown County public schools. He was a groundskeeper at Plantersville Turf Farm.
Survivors include: his mother; two brothers, Thurmond J. Myers Jr. and Lorenzo Myers, all of Plantersville; his maternal grandmother, Ethel Coakley of Hemingway; and his paternal grandmother, Ernestine Swinton Jordon of Philadelphia, Penn.

Kathleen Powell Pope, 88, of Charleston, widow of Alvin Snow Pope, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 in a Charleston hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 in Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Pope was born in Lake City, the daughter of the late Seldom I. Powell and Mollie Tilton Powell. She was a homemaker and a member of Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors are: a son, Amos Pope of Charleston; daughters Carolyn Natividad of Charleston and Annie Lucille Williams of Lanes; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Alvin Snow Pope Jr. and daughters Nancy Lewis and Luvenia Smith.

Marguerite Thornhill Springs, 83, of Hemingway, widow of J. Fulton Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 in a Florence hospital.

Mrs. Springs was born in Lake City, a daughter of the late Andrew and Martha Langley Thornhill. She was a homemaker, a member of the Midway Baptist Church and was a graduate of Florence County schools.
Mrs. Springs was predeceased by a daughter, Ann S. Poston.

Marjorie G. Taylor
Marjorie G. Taylor, 86, of Pawleys Island died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

She will be inurned in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband Walter on Dec. 30, 2008 with full military honors.
Mrs. Taylor was born the eldest of four children to Ralph E. and Nellie C. DeLair in Wilmore, Kansas on Jan. 14, 1922.
Educated in a one-room schoolhouse, she left the farm to seek her fortune in Wichita, Kansas. Over the next 70 years, she became a pilot, served her country as an instructor in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, rose to the position of highest female executive in Lear Jet Corporation, traveled the world and raised a family. Her achievements as an executive earned her honors in the U.S. aircraft industry and abroad. She counted among her friends and associates countless celebrities and notables.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Walter B. Taylor Jr.
Survivors include: her two sons, Steven Taylor (Diana) of Surfside Beach, and Scott Taylor (Barbara) of Annandale, Va.; her four grandchildren, Sheila Berns of St. Petersburg, Fla., Scott Taylor of Murrells Inlet, Beth Taylor of Jersey City, N.J. and Bryan Taylor of Arlington, Va.; her six great-grandchildren, Lauren Berns, Steven Berns, Mehera Berns and Katherine Berns of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Zachary Taylor and Graison Taylor of Murrells Inlet; her brother, Donald DeLair of Las Vegas; and sister, Patricia Pimple of Emporia, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Foundation.
James Vick
James "Jimmy" Vick, 73, of Harkers Island and Murrells Inlet, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at home.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 in Refuge Fellowship Church with the Rev. Manley B. Rose Jr. officiating. Interment was at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Munden Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. of Morehead City was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Vick served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Refuge Fellowship Church, and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his son, Brian Vick; and brothers, I.M. Vick Jr., and Charles Vick.
He is survived by: his wife, Glenda H. Vick; one daughter, Diane Smith (Chris) of Staten Island, N.Y.; six sisters, Barbara Vick of Pawleys Island, Pearl Young (George) and Shirley Prescott, all of Charleston, Hazel Frick (Dave) of Antioch, Calif., Annette Beebe (Rick) of Birmingham, Ala., and Patsy Stevenson of Myrtle Beach; two brothers, Billy Vick (Jackie) of Murrells Inlet, and Jack H. Vick (Judy) of Charleston; two grandchildren, Nicholas Tyler Smith and Lauren Grace Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carletta Wright
Carletta Wright, 79, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was a retired cook.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wilds Funeral Home.
