Paul Schwartz

Paul Joseph Schwartz, 79, of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Va., died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.
Paul was born on January 16, 1933, in Hamburg, N.Y. to the late Lawrence M. Schwartz and the late Bernice K. Winter Schwartz.
He attended the Erie County Technical Institute, Cornell University and the University of Buffalo.
He then had a life of working in the metallurgical, wire and steel industry, having served as the vice president/general manager of the Rochester Corporation in Culpeper and the Rappahannock Wire Company, later known as Insteel Industries Inc.,  in Fredericksburg and in Andrews, S.C.
Prior to his service in the steel industry, Paul was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Having served during the Korean Conflict, he was an airman in Naval aviation where he was assigned to the Blimp Squadron.
He was a member of the National Korean War Veterans Association and the Edward Markart Chapter 128 Korean War Veterans Association located in Locust Grove, and a lifetime member of the Wire Association.
He was also active in the Georgetown, S.C. United Way, the Chamber of Commerce and the Georgetown Economic Development Commission.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, being a scoutmaster and loved and respected nature.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and soul mate of 33 years, Ellen Hensley Schwartz; and his children, Gary P. Schwartz and his wife, Holly, of Locust Grove, Deanne Cockerill and her husband, Gary, of Rixeyville, and Beth Martin and her fiancée, Gary Nixon, of Culpeper; six grandchildren, Heather Seay and her husband, Sean, of Locust Grove, Kelly Hanson and her husband, Nate, of Mechanicsville, Bryan Coffey and Kaytlin Cockerill, both of Rixeyville, and Jacob and Luke Martin, both of Culpeper; three great-grandchildren, Ella and Blake Hanson of Mechanicsville, and Greyson Seay of Locust Grove.
Paul is also survived by his siblings, Janet Schwartz of Paradise, Calif., Jean Aikins of Kenmore, N.Y., and Robert Schwartz and his wife, Shirley, of Delevan, N.Y.; numerous nieces and nephews; not to mention his beloved pets, BeBee and Maggie Belle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Aikins.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, with Father Anseime Malonda-Nkuanga officiating and Rev. Vince Klug offering the eulogy.
Interment followed at the Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 2425 and American Legion Post 330.

Rose Smalls
 
Rose B. Smalls, 91, of Pawleys Island, S.C. died Monday, September 10,  2012 at Golden Living Center-Windermere in Augusta, Ga.  
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening, Sept. 14, 2012  at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Mrs. Smalls was born on Dec. 17, 1920 in Pawleys Island, S.C. to Joe Brown and Mrs. Lucille Bessellieu Brown.   
She attended Georgetown County public schools and worked as a housekeeper.
Mrs. Smalls was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and sang on the Gospel Choir.
Her survivors include two sons, Albert Lee Smalls Jr. of Pawleys Island and Gregory Bernard Smalls of Savannah, Ga.; five daughters, Dorthula C. Ahula of New York, N.Y., Josephine Smalls of Staten Island, N.Y., Suzanne Satterwhite of Augusta, Ga., Vermel Joyner of Augusta, Ga. and Joyce Simms of Bronx, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Patricia Young

Patricia Johnson Young, 68, wife of John Charles Young, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born on Oct. 14, 1943, in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Ferney E. Johnson and the late Ruby Altman Johnson.
Mrs. Young was a member of Messiah Baptist Church and a volunteer with the Harbor Walk Festival.
She enjoyed photography and interior decorating. Most of all Mrs. Young enjoyed helping others in any way she could.
Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; three step children, Sheree Ghosh (IJ) and Sean Young (Sandy), both of New Jersey, and Jack Young of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Trudy Springs (Grover) of Georgetown and Debby Reardon (TJ) of Pawleys Island; five brothers, Frankie Johnson (Runell) of Georgetown, Billy Johnson (Lorene) of Georgetown, Jimmy Johnson of Columbia, Ralph Johnson of Georgetown and Ronnie Johnson (Judy) of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Casey Brumley of North Carolina, Shane Brumley of Georgetown and Matt Brumley of Tennessee; two great-grandchildren, Noah Brumley and Jeremiah Brumley; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Brumley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Messiah Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky West officiating.
Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Graham Funeral Home.
