Joshua Hendrix
Joshua Blake “Josh” Hendrix, 27, the beloved son of Cheryl C. “Sherry” Player and Gregory B. “Greg” Hendrix, departed this life on Wednesday evening at his residence.
Josh was born the son of Gregory Blake Hendrix and Cheryl Lynn Cox Hendrix Player on June 17, 1985 in Georgetown. He was a 2002 graduate of Georgetown High School.
He leaves behind: his father, Gregory (Julie) Hendrix; his mother, Sherry (Vernon) Player; his sibilings, Tiffany Player, Jonathan Hendrix, Drew Hendrix, Ryan Hendrix, and Connor Hendrix; his maternal grandparents, Aubrey (Josephine Crews) Cox; a special Uncle, Jerry (Penny) Cox; his cousins, Justin, Nicholas, and Anna; and a large extended family of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Charles Franklin (Ray) Hendrix.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church, directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Hendrix-Player family will receive family and friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.

William Nelson
William David Nelson, 93, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on August 19, 1918, in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of the William G. Nelson and the late Bessa David Nelson. Mr. Nelson.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed working with wood.
Survivors include two children, William L. Nelson (Barbara) of Georgetown and Marcia M. Van Hoose (Sammy) of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Warren Nelson (Maurine) of Pawleys Island, Michell Padgette (James) of Pamplico, Arnette Graham (Paul) of Georgetown, Deborah Blair (David) and Deanna Van Hoose, all of Jacksonville, Fla., Bobby Nelson (Dawn), Gary Nelson (Tonya) and Chrissy Nelson, all of Seminole, Fla.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard R. Nelson.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Sherrill officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Graham Funeral Home.

Elmer “Jimmy” Stephenson Jr.
Elmer T. “Jimmy” Stephenson, Jr. (the “Gospel Preaching Sign Painter”) of Kingstree, S.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.
Son of the late Elmer T. Stephenson and Nell Pearl Scott Stephenson, he was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 3, 1930, and raised at the Scott Home place at 501 East Main St., Kingstree.
Jimmy's young career spanned several jobs including custodian for The County Record newspaper, soda jerk, and grocery boy.
While employed at the grocery store, he became fascinated with the world of commercial art, and began his career as a sign man on his bicycle with just a lettering brush, a yard stick, and a can of paint.
His comment regarding his career choice was that he walked out of his house every day into his hobby, and never spent a day of drudgery at a job he didn't enjoy.
In his 60-plus years as an active sign man, he lettered everything from NASCAR race cars for two Daytona 500s, to billboards along the I-95 corridor for Kentucky Fried Chicken.
His passion, however, was introducing everyone he met to the love of God as demonstrated through His Son, Jesus Christ, who took the punishment our sin deserved by his death, burial and resurrection, so that we can have forgiveness of sin and peace with God.
In declaring this message, he gifted everyone he greeted with a little red Bible tract, averaging a distribution of 12,000/yr., personally oversaw the manufacture and installation of 3,000-plus double-faced, “Jesus Saves” yard signs in 22 counties, and larger signs on barns and pack houses in five counties.
He held Bible studies in his home for adults, Tuesday nights for youth, radio broadcasts, correspondence courses, and maintained an audio Bible reference library.
To further the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to areas beyond his region and state, he supported over 13 similar ministries like Radio Bible Class and Awana Clubs.
He was a church planter and teaching Elder at Believer's Bible.
Jimmy was a former Boy Scout Troop Leader was honorably discharged from the S.C. National Guard as a Sergeant in the Artillery Division.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 47 years, Frances Seymour Stephenson.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret H. Stephenson; his son, Craig A. Stephenson (Robyn D. Stephenson) of Kingstree; his daughter, Jean Nell Stephenson Branton (R. David Branton); and grandson David Scott Stephenson Branton, of Summerville, S.C.
His body was interred at Andrews Memorial Gardens.
A Memorial Service and visitation will be held at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree on Monday, July 2 at 7 p.m.
