Henry Blake, 76 , Georgetown

Wilden Coker Jr.

Wilden Leroy "WL" Coker, Jr., 66, the beloved husband of Harriett P. Coker of Andrews, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, June 26, 2009 at the Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Mr. Coker was born a son of Whildon Leroy Coker, Sr. and Allie Lee Moore Coker on November 17, 1942, in Andrews.

He was 1961 graduate of Andrews High School; a 40+ year employee and retired maintenance supervisor for the Wood Yard of International Paper, Georgetown Mill; a member and former board member of the Georgetown County Gamecock Club; and was a devoted member of the Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a choir member, secretary of the Viola's Team Sunday School Class, and a member and former assistant director of Men's Fellowship.

Staff Sergeant Coker was a decorated Vietnam Conflict Army veteran receiving a number of accommodations and awards including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Service Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Presidential Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement in Aerial Flight and Combat.

WL and Harriett Grace Powell Coker were married February 10, 1963, and celebrated 46 years together.

He leaves behind his cherished wife of the home; four brothers, Ansel (Sharon) Coker, Harry (Linda) Coker, and James (Sheri) Coker, all of Andrews, and Larry (Belinda) Coker of Charleston; four sisters, Geraldine C. Flowers-Harrelson, Harriett (Wayne) Cox, and Vivian C. Tyler, all of Andrews, and Beverly C. Poe of Charleston; 14 God-children, Cheryl, Gabriel, Justin, Kirby, Logan, Brock, Raylee Coker Cannon, Jaelyn, Raegan, Jase, Chandler, Baylor, Rod, and Robert; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 4 PM, Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Mr. Coker will lie-in-state from Noon until 4 PM Sunday, in the sanctuary of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The Coker family will receive family and friends from 2-3:30 PM prior the service in the sanctuary.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Jack Coker and Dan Coker; and two sisters, Margaret C. Wiggins and Annie Lee Coker.

Dillon Cook

Dillon Michael Cook, 16, son of Michael and Donna Cook, died Saturday, June 27, 2009.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Lakewood Baptist Church.

Officiating will be Rev. Larry Deeter. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Dillon was born May 19, 1993 in Georgetown.

He was a rising junior at Georgetown High School and a student in the Autotech and Welding classes.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, ATV's, driving, spending time with his friends, and playing video games with his younger brother.

Surviving are his parents and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Wilma Cook, all of Georgetown; one brother, Christopher James Cook of Georgetown; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Hudson of Whiteville, NC; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Elizabeth German

Elizabeth "Lizzie" German, 82, of 11298 South Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC departed this life Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Dr. Joseph Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in the Singleton A.M.E. Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home.

A wake will be Monday, June 29, 2009 at Singleton A.M.E. Church from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Mrs.. German, a daughter of the late Richard Weathers and Josephine Hales Weathers, was born June 10, 1927 in Georgetown County.

She received her education in the Georgetown County Public School System and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where she served in various capacities.

Survivors are: four sons; Joseph German of Atlanta, GA, Thomas German and Anthony German of Georgetown, SC, Kenneth German of Savannah, GA; one daughter; Esperenza D. German of Georgetown, SC; one adoptive daughter; of Pawleys Island, SC; three brothers; Joseph Hales of Georgetown, SC; Edward Mitchell and Clyde Mitchell of North Charleston, SC; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Ronald Green

Ronald Green, 47 of Georgetown died on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral Services for Mr. Green were held 11 a.m., on Friday, June 26, 2009 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel, conducted by Rev. Joe Canteen.

Burial followed in Singleton A.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Mr. Green was born November 10, 1961 in Manhattan, NY to Mrs. Thomasena Simmons Green and Samuel Green.

Mr. Green is survived by several cousins.

Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Michael Hemingway

Michael Lawrence Hemingway, 44, departed this life June 17, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 1:00 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pawleys Island, SC with Rev. Abraham Nelson officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandy Island, SC.

Mr. Hemingway, a son of the Mrs. Minnie P. Green Hemingway and the late Howard Hemingway, was born December 1, 1964 in Georgetown, SC.

He received his education in the Long Island City Schools in New York.

Survivors are: his mother, Mrs. Minnie P. Green Hemingway of Jamaica,

NY; one sister, Natasha Hemingway of Brooklyn, NY; his step-grandfather; William Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC; and many other relatives and friends.

LaKee Johnson

LaKee Belvin "Keby" Johnson, age 73, of Ricefields in Pawleys Island, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown, SC.

Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Sumter High School and attended USC Columbia. He was also a graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and was a US Army veteran.

Keby served on the vestry at Prince George Parish of Georgetown, SC and was an active communicant of All Saints Church in Pawleys Island, SC.

A former member of the Georgetown Rotary Club, Keby served as Treasurer for many years.

He was one of the founders and co-owners of Johnson-Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown, SC. In his retirement, he worked with Goldfinch Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred S. "Tag" Johnson; sons, Andrew Siddall "Drew" Johnson and his wife, Cheryl of Pawleys Island, Bryan LaKee Johnson of Raleigh, NC; sister, Shirley T. Anderson of Duncan; grandchildren, Robert William Johnson, Caroline Siddall Johnson, Matthew Stuart Holland, Kathryn Shorr Johnson; brother-in-law, Bernard Andrew Siddall, Jr. of China; and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Beck of Columbia.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 29, 2009 at All Saints Episcopal Church with Bishop Terrell Glenn officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the services at All Saints Acts Building.

Mary Orange

Mary Orange, 54, of 1496 Oatland Road, Georgetown, SC departed this life Saturday, June 20 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were Friday, June 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Chester Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. George Weathers officiating.

Burial followed in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home.

Visitation was Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Walter S. Fraser Memorial Chapel in Georgetown, SC.

Mrs. Orange, a daughter of the late Mr. Alex Reed and Everlina Gibson Reed, was born December 28, 1954 in Georgetown County.

She received her education in the County Public Schools System and was also a member of Chester Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors are: her husband; Curtis Orange of Georgetown, SC; two daughters; Janine D. Orange of Conyers, GA; and Precious Reed Orange of Georgetown, SC; one sister; Merry Reed-Priest of Schenectady, NY; three brothers; Willie W. Reed, Michael Reed, and Donald Reed all of Georgetown, SC and many other relatives and friends.

Ruth Russell

Ruth "Tuda" Russell, 90, of 1013 Prince Street, Georgetown, SC departed this life Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Greater St. Stephen A.M.E. Church with Rev. Carl Anderson officiating.

Burial followed in the Morning Glory Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home.

A wake will be in the Walter S. Fraser Memorial Chapel Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mrs.. Ruth Russell, a daughter of the late Solomon and Ida Fulton, was born April 15, 1919 in the Williamsburg County.

She received her education in the counties of Williamsburg and Georgetown and was a member of Greater St. Stephen A.M.E. Church where she served in various capacities.

Survivors are: one daughter; Lillie Green of Georgetown, SC; two sisters; Alma Jones of Lane, SC and Carrie L. Sabb of Georgetown, SC; two brothers; Solomon Fulton of Bishopville, SC and Dave E. Green, Sr. of Georgetown, SC; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Harold Zobel

Memorial services for Harold Earle Zobel of Georgetown, SC will be held at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, 901 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC on Wednesday, July 1, at 4:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. Eddie Usher and The Rev. Robert Carlisle officiating.

The family will receive friends at their home on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 5:00 pm til 8:00 pm.

Mr. Zobel died on Saturday, June 27, at the Medical University of SC following a brief illness.

Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Julius Hyatt Zobel, Sr. and Ellen Rast Zobel and was a graduate of USC where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma social fraternity.

He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict, and retired from International Paper Company as Manager of Accounting after 37 years.

He was an active member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, the Francis Asbury Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Men.

His service to Duncan included Chairman of the Council on Ministries, Chairman of Finance, Treasurer, Lay Delegate to Annual Conference, and Chairman of the Board of Stewards, a position he held at the time of his death.

He was a past president of the Georgetown County United Way; a member of the SC Board of United Way; past Vice Chairman of the Georgetown County Zoning Board of Appeals; member of the Georgetown Cotillion Club where he served as Treasurer, Vice President and President; a member of The Winyah Indigo Society; Georgetown Ribbon Club, and Pine Tree Club and Quarter Center Club of International Paper Company, the latter of which he was a past president.

Upon his retirement, he fulfilled a life-long dream of learning to fly a plane and received his private pilot's license of which he was very proud.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, but more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, father-in-law, granddaddy and brother and a true "southern gentleman."

There will be a tremendous void in the lives of his loved ones who will miss him terribly.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 48 years, Barbara Jennings Zobel of the home, one daughter, Barbie Zobel Kirwin and her husband Dennis, two granddaughters, Courtney Kirwin and Hyatt Kirwin, and one grandson, Patrick Kirwin, all of Mount Pleasant, one brother, J.H. Zobel, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Aiken, SC, three nieces and their husbands, several great nieces and nephews, and one great, great grand niece.
