Funeral services for the late Rev. Samuel Lee Generette will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at White Chapel Holiness Church in Johnsonville.
The Rev. Jack Peterson will preside and Rev. Weston Burgess Jr. will conduct the religious services. Internment will follow in the White Chapel Church Cemetery.
Nesmith Pinckney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Generette entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Lake City Community Hospital in Lake City after an illness.
He was educated in the public schools of Florence County and was a 1977 graduate of Johnsonville High School.
He furthered his education at Williamsburg Technical college and South Carolina State University.
He was employed at McCall's Inc. before he resigned to become a full-time pastor at White Chapel Holiness Church.
Pastor Generette served in many capacities: Florence District School Board (two terms), Private Industry Council Board, Orangeburg Technical College Advisory Board.
And the Midlands Technical College Advisory Board, Governor Campbell's Delinquent Juvenile Task Board, Executive Committee member of Florence County Democratic Party and Florence County Economic Development Board.
He was joined in holy wedlock to Maggalene Gobson. to this union, two children were born.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife Maggalene Generette of Johnsonville; one son, Deon LaThorne Generette of Columbia; one daughter, Ava Denitra Generette of Johnsonville; parents, Thornton and Thelma Generette of Johnsonville; two brothers, Kenneth (Denise) Generette of Johnsonville; Tyron (Eliska) Generette of Hephiziah, GA; two sisters, Judy Ann Generette-Lewis and LaShonda Generette, both of Johnsonville; eight grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lucille Simmons
Minister Lucille Simmons, 85 of Georgetown, died on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for Minister Simmons will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Georgetown.
Minister Simmons was born February 1, 1924 in Georgetown, SC to Mrs. Viola Limes Mitchell and George Greene.
She attended Georgetown County Public Schools and was a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Prayer Band, Missionary Society, Pastor's Aide Committee and Mother of the Church.
Her community affiliations included membership with Charity Lodge No. 325 and the Rose of Sharon Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed as a housekeeper and private duty nurse.
Minister Simmons is survived by her son, Michael Canteen of Louisville, Kentucky; her daughter, Michelle Gainey of Georgetown; brothers Neal Greene, George Greene and Maceo Greene all of Georgetown, SC; six sisters: Lizzie Canteen, Rozenia Gibson, Rovena Vanderhorst and Charlena Franklin of Georgetown, SC, Margaret Wineglass of Pawleys Island, SC and Emily Judge of Bronx, NY; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held 6 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
Mattie Wilson
Mattie Mae Izzard Wilson, 76 of Georgetown, died on Monday, June 22, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson were held 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Bethel AME Church, Georgetown.
Mrs. Wilson was born November 15, 1932 in Georgetown, SC to Mrs. Nancy Monroe Izzard and James Izzard, Sr.
She attended Burk High School, Charleston County, South Carolina and was employed as a Nurse Assistant at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by two sons: Alphonsa Wilson of Antelope, CA, and Jonathan Wilson of Temple Hills, MD; three daughters: Jerlyn Wilson of Georgetown, SC, Debra C. Wilson of Lorton, VA, and Jaine P. Wilson of Jersey City, NJ; her brother, Richard Izzard of Georgetown, SC; two sisters: Mildred Sanders and Mozella Graham both of Georgetown, SC; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
