Jonathan "Tommy" Matter

Jonathan Thomas "Tommy" Matter, 50, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Matter was born in Georgetown on December 8, 1958, the son of the late Merrill Jonathan Matter and Emma Lou Baxley Matter.

He grew up in the Sampit Community of Georgetown Co. and was a graduate of Andrews High School.

Mr. Matter was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver and retired in 2007 due to ill health.

He was a member of Sampit United Methodist Church and was a church Song Leader.

Surviving are: two sons, Jonathan Thomas Matter, II and Travis Jones, both of Georgetown; three sisters, Katherine M. (Johnny) Blake of Andrews and Amanda M. (J. C.) Taylor, both of Andrews, and Marilyn M. Lambert of Florence; special friends, Eddie Thompson and Norman Assey, both of Georgetown; and his beloved pet, Hounddog of Georgetown.

Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, June 24, 2009, at Sampit United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Eubanks. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Tuesday evening, June 23, 2009, from six until eight.
