WINTER HAVEN, FL: Funeral service for Mary Ruth Baz, 64, formerly of West Columbia, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Rev. John McKeown. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baz, wife of Ralph A. Baz, Jr. died June 13, 2009. Born in West Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Otis McLemore and Floride Smith McLemore. She was retired from Allied Chemicals.
Surviving is her husband, Ralph A. Baz, Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; daughter, Tina Mason (Mike) of West Columbia; son, Ralph A. Baz, III, "Duke" (Edith) of West Columbia; brother, Charles McLemore of West Columbia; one grandchild, Chelsie Baz.

Rev. Howard McKenzie
Rev. Howard McKenzie, 69, of Andrews, the beloved husband of Bonnie S. McKenzie and the founder and owner of McKenzie Funeral Home, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, June 13, 2009.
Rev. McKenzie, a son of Horace J. McKenzie and Elizabeth Cleo Bingham McKenzie was born October 3, 1939 in Lake City. He was educated in Florence County.
He received Christ and The Call into Christian Ministry in 1959 beginning his ministry which celebrated 50 years in 2009. He was ordained in 1965 with the South Carolina Free Will Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith where he served on the Ordinance Council and as a District Pastor. He was a 1969 Bachelor of Theology graduate of Holmes Bible College. He was licensed on July 2, 1972 with South Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. He faithfully served as pastor of Marsh FWB Chapel, Gray Court FWB, Olive Grove FWB Church, Canaan FWB Church, Lees Tabernacle, South Aiken P.H. Church, Smyrna P.H. Church, Smyrna, Ga, Holy Trinity P.H. Church, and Rock P.H. Church.
He was licensed in 1974 as a South Carolina Funeral Director, was a 1976 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science receiving the National Board Accreditation, and in 1976 was licensed as a South Carolina Embalmer.
Rev. McKenzie founded McKenzie Funeral Home of Andrews in January of 1978, opened the Georgetown Chapel in 1997 and the Hemingway Chapel in 2007. As a community leader, he served on numerous boards and committees, in several clubs and organizations, and was a former judge for the Town of Andrews. He was a member of the Andrews Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Howard and Bonnie were married April 8, 1960 and celebrated 49 years together. From their blessed union survives: a son, Timothy H. (Shannon) McKenzie, Sr. of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Beth McKenzie of Murrells Inlet; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth McKenzie and Timothy H. McKenzie, Jr.; three brothers, Rev. Berry (Joyce) McKenzie of Turbeville, Rev. Bobby (Stasi) McKenzie of Raiford, Fl., and Ledell (Thelma) McKenzie of Olanta; a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: his parents; one brother, Benjamin McKenzie; sister-in-law, Euvena D. McKenzie; and a nephew, Scott McKenzie.
Celebration of Eternal Life service with Recognition of Distinguished Service was 6:30 PM, Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Robinson Memorial Auditorium in Lake City. A visitation and reception in honor of Rev. McKenzie's Homegoing followed in the Dining Hall immediately after the service.
A register book was available for family and friends to sign at the Georgetown Chapel and Hemingway Chapel from 9-3 on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.

Leslie S. Nash
Leslie Loraine Smith Nash, 59, of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009.
Ms. Nash, the daughter of William Joseph Smith and Clare Loraine Rheaume was born September 18, 1949.
Surviving are: one son, Michael R. (Fianc- Shannon Skinner) Nash, a daughter, Laurie A. Nash; her step-mother, Helen V. Smith; a brother, Jeffery A. Smith; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 6 PM, Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Thelma M. Williams
Thelma Moore Williams, 88, widow of Willie Williams, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in a Georgetown hospital.
Mrs. Williams was born in Hemingway, a daughter of the late Hilly Quincy and Louise Powers Moore. She was a homemaker, a member of the Center Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Hill schools.
Surviving are her children, Dorothy (William) Powell, Susie (Glenn) Poston, John Allen (Lois) Williams and Jimmy (Gwen) Williams, all of Hemingway; son-in-law, Junior Hewitt of Hemingway; brothers, Capers Moore of Smyrna, Ga., and Quincy Moore Jr. of Hemingway; sisters, Lucille Sanders of Georgetown, Edaphell McDaniel, Retta Powell and Bessie Cooper, all of Hemingway; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was predeceased by three daughters, Willie Mae Williams, Juanita Williams and Lizzie Hewitt.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 in the Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. June 12, 2009 at Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 86 Williams Hill Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
