Glenda Toney Granger, 66, Murrells Inlet

Dudley D. Barnhill

Dudley Darrell "DD" Barnhill, 77, of Georgetown, the husband of Pauline Howard Barnhill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2009, at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Barnhill, the son of the Archie Eason Barnhill, Sr. and Healon Miller Barnhill, was born December 25, 1931. He completed his high school education in the military and earned an Associate of Business Administration from the Williamsburg Technical College. He was a former Georgetown County Sheriff Deputy and a retired heavy equipment operator for Georgetown County Maintenance Department. He was a loyal member of Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church where he served as secretary of the men's fellowship and as a member of the Finance Committee.

He was a retired 20+ year Army Veteran working as a heavy equipment operator. Staff Sergeant Barnhill was a decorated Vietnam Conflict soldier receiving numerous commendations and awards including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

DD and Pauline were married on October 19, 1952, and celebrated 56 years together. From their bless union survives four sons, James Paul (Gayle) Barnhill of Summerville, Dudley Darrell (Aurora) Barnhill, Jr. of Columbia, and Dannie Steven "Steve" (JoAnn) Barnhill of Georgetown; one daughter-in-law, Janice Barnhill; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are: one brother, Vernie Eason Barnhill of Georgetown and one sister, Ella Lou Powell of Hemingway.

He was predeceased by his parents; his step-mother, Pearl Cribb Barnhill; one son, William Allen Barnhill; a brother, Archie Eason "Junior" Barnhill, Jr.; and three sisters, Annelle B. Derrick, Angus B. Fryer, and Maude B. Hunt.

Funeral services with Military Honors were 4 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Barnhill family.

Marion M. Cambrey

Marion Rose Morey Cambrey, 51, of Georgetown, died June 29, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 3, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Georgetown Community Church.

She was born August 23, 1957 in Mahopac, NY, a daughter of the late Clarence Edward Morey and Theresa Williams Morey.

She was a bus driver for Georgetown County and enjoyed reading, crocheting and loved her sons.

Surviving are; 2 sons. Jeremy Cambrey and Eric Cambrey, both of Georgetown; her mother, Theresa Morey of Patterson, NY, one sister, Eddie Morey and one brother, Joseph Morey, both of Florida.

Carrie T. Grant

Carrie Tucker Grant, 69 of Bronx, New York and formerly of Georgetown, SC, died on Sunday, June 28, 2009 in Bronx, NY. Funeral services for Mrs. Grant will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Arnett AME Church, Georgetown. Mrs. Grant was born May 20, 1940 in Georgetown, SC to Essie and Julius Tucker. She attended Howard High School, Georgetown, SC.

Mrs. Grant is survived by three daughters: Inger Grant, Kizzy Grant and Monique Tanco all of Bronx, NY; seven siblings: Verma Tucker of Bronx, NY & Gwendolyn Wolfe of Long Island, NY, Pauline Collington & Jacquelyn Tucker both of Georgetown, SC, Cephus Tucker of Brooklyn, NY, Charles Tucker and Larry Tucker both of Bronx, NY; 6 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter.

Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Allen T. Howell

Allen Theodore Howell, 76, of Hemingway, SC died Wednesday July 1, 2009 in a Florence hospital.

Mr. Howell was born in Johnsonville, SC, a son of the late George A. and Willie Avant Howell.

He was retired from the SC Army National Guard, a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and attended Hemingway schools.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Knight Howell of the home; children, Allen D. (Natalie) Howell of Johnsonville and Norma Jean "Sissy" Dennis of Hemingway; brother, Larry (Ruth Ann) Howell of Georgetown; grandchildren, Lauren H. (Johnathan) Driggers and Bradley R. Dennis both of Hemingway, James Allen Howell and Collin G. Howell, both of Johnsonville.

Mr. Howell was predeceased by his first wife, Wynnell A. Howell; brothers, Lloyd Howell and Ronald Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 3, 2009 in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the old Johnsonville Cemetery.

Carol R. Lebeau

Mrs. Carol Ann Riley Lebeau, 70, of Georgetown, wife of Mr. Normand Lebeau, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Eddie Usher.

Mrs. Lebeau was a member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church and a retired Registered Nurse and founder of Nightingale's Professional Apparel in Georgetown. She was a graduate of Anna Maria College and Worcester Nursing School. Mrs. Lebeau was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets.

Surviving are; her husband of Georgetown. One daughter, Dawn Marie Laucker, of Charlton, MA. One son; Keith Ronald Riley of West Warren, MA. Two step daughters; Judith Ann Piette (Barry) of Dudley, MA and Charlene Marie Orlowski (Jim) of Webster, MA. Two sisters; Jeane Perry (Lou) of Atlanta, GA and Gail Corriveau. Four grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews of GA, TN, MA, and CT.

Ruth Singleton

Ruth Singleton, 82 of Georgetown, died on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Singleton will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009 at Love Chapel Deliverance Center, Georgetown.

Mrs. Singleton was born March 27, 1927 in Georgetown, SC to Mary Sheppard Singleton and Eddie Singleton. She attended Georgetown County Public Schools and House of Prayer Church. She was a retired housekeeper.

Mrs. Singleton is survived by her son, Eddie Singleton of New Haven, CT; her daughters: Wilahmena Singleton of Pawleys Island, SC, Mary Singleton of Murrells Inlet, SC, Louise Richardson and Althea Singleton of New Haven, CT, Ruthena Brown of Winston-Salem, NC and Barbara Singleton of Charlotte, NC; two sisters: Albertha Moultrie and Lena Manigault of Georgetown, SC; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
