Dudley D. Barnhill
Dudley Darrell "DD" Barnhill, 77, of Georgetown, the husband of Pauline Howard Barnhill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2009, at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Barnhill, the son of the Archie Eason Barnhill, Sr. and Healon Miller Barnhill, was born December 25, 1931. He completed his high school education in the military and earned an Associate of Business Administration from the Williamsburg Technical College. He was a former Georgetown County Sheriff Deputy and a retired heavy equipment operator for Georgetown County Maintenance Department. He was a loyal member of Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church where he served as secretary of the men's fellowship and as a member of the Finance Committee.
He was a retired 20+ year Army Veteran working as a heavy equipment operator. Staff Sergeant Barnhill was a decorated Vietnam Conflict soldier receiving numerous accommodations and awards including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
DD and Pauline were married on October 19, 1952, and celebrated 56 years together. From their bless union survives four sons, James Paul (Gayle) Barnhill of Summerville, Dudley Darrell (Aurora) Barnhill, Jr. of Columbia, and Dannie Steven "Steve" (JoAnn) Barnhill of Georgetown; one daughter-in-law, Janice Barnhill; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; his step-mother, Pearl Cribb Barnhill; one son, William Allen Barnhill; a brother, Archie Eason "Junior" Barnhill, Jr.; and three sisters, Annelle B. Derrick, Angus B. Fryer, and Maude B. Hunt.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be 4 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Black River Original Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was Tuesday evening, June 30, 2009, 7-9 PM, in the Andrews Chapel.

Ella J. Blake
Ella Jane Blake, 83, of Georgetown, wife of Benjamin F. Blake, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Lexington Medical Center.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Dr. Ted Sherrill officiated. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, was in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was born October 4, 1925 in Varnville, SC, a daughter of the late Robert L. Mcalhaney and Martha Eva Deloach Mcalhaney.
Mrs. Blake was a member of Abigail Sunday School Class of Gateway Baptist Church in Irmo as well as being a member of Ruth Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church in Georgetown. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and cooking for her friends and family.
Surviving are; 2 sons, Daniel R. Mixson and his wife Hope of Charleston and Larry D. Mixson and his wife Leona of Chapin. One son-in-law; Donnie Michau of Georgetown; 3 step-children, Frankie Blake, Bill Blake and his wife Sandra, Ria Lee Cooper and her husband Jackie, all of Georgetown. Six grandchildren; Dan (Buffi) Mixson of Charleston, Rene (Kevin) Brown of Summerville, Kelle (Tony) Skipper of Daniel Island, Sabrina (Jay) Player of Pawleys Island, Derick Michau of Georgetown, and Joey Mixson of Columbia. Nine great grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sheri Michau and her first husband Daniel R. Mixson and her second husband Marion L. Reed.

Donnie E. Cook
Donnie Eugene Cook, 61, of Hemingway, the husband of Carolyn Ane Crowder Cook, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, June 29, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Cook, the son of the Cleveland O. Cook and the Laura Ann Fulton Cook, was born March 10, 1948. He was a graduate of Andrews High School. He was a former truck driver for Hahn Automotive Warehouse, Inc. He was a member of Piney Forest Baptist Church.
He was a retired 20+ year Army Veteran working as a recruiter. Sergeant First Class Cook was a decorated soldier receiving a number of commendations and awards including National Defense Service Medal, several Good Conduct Medals, Army Commendation Medal, the Gold Recruiter Medal w/ Three Sapphire Achievement Stars, and the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon. He completed many continuing education classes.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are: four sons, Lonnie (Cindi) Cook of Brownsville, TX, David (Lana) Cook of Moore, OK, Michael (Donna) Cook of Marion, VA, and J.D. (Debbie) Denton of Texarkana, TX; three daughters, Wanda (Donald) Hughes of Hemingway, Lisa (Rickie) Price, of Middlesex, NC, and Missy (Joseph) Willis of North Augusta; twenty-four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his brothers, Neal (Sandy) Cook of Hampton, Ga. and Tommy (Patricia) Cook of Andrews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be 11 AM, Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Christian Fortress. Burial will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

William A. Douglas, Jr.
William Andrew Douglas, Jr., of Georgetown, died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Ted Sherrill. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
He was born February 12, 1952 in Georgetown, a son of the late William Andrew Douglas, Sr. and the late Thelma Ellen Jones Douglas.
Mr. Douglas was an accountant at Coastal Carolina University. He was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Friday Morning Men's Bible Study. He enjoyed golfing, yard work and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving are; his wife, Phyllis Watkins Douglas; 2 daughters, Erin Renee Douglas of Myrtle Beach and Casey Elizabeth Douglas of Georgetown, 2 grand children; Drew Avant and Ryleigh Avant, both of Myrtle Beach, 2 brothers; Amos Douglas of Florence and Charles Douglas of Georgetown; 2 sisters; Catherine Lawrimore and Joyce Douglas, both of Georgetown..
He was predeceased by a brother, Andy Douglas.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church.

Arthur Frasier, Jr.
Arthur Frasier, Jr., 65, of 782 Kent Road, Georgetown, SC departed this life June 26, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland A.M.E. Church in Georgetown with Rev. Rose Goodwater officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home. A wake was held Monday, June 29, 2009 in the Walter S. Fraser Memorial Chapel in Georgetown from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Frasier, son of the late Marie Rhue Frasier and Arthur Frasier, Sr., was born August 22, 1943 in Georgetown, SC. He received his education in the Georgetown County Public Schools. Mr. Frasier was an entrepreneur and was also a member of Cumberland A.M.E. Church.
Survivors are: his wife Mrs. Thelma Grant Frasier of Georgetown, SC, three sons; Arthur Frasier, III of Bowie, MD, Jason Lee Frasier and Tyrone Frasier of Georgetown, SC; three sisters; Bernice Frasier and Eunice Frasier Brown of Georgetown, SC, Francena Frasier Orr of Wilmington, DE, Mary Nowak (reared as a sister) of Niagra Falls, NY; two brothers Ralph Frasier, Sr. and William Frasier, Sr. of Georgetown, SC; Richard House, Jr. (reared as a brother) of Buffalo, NY; two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Louis J. Howard
Louis Javel Howard, 89, of Andrews, died Monday, June 29, 2009, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Howard was born in Georgetown Co. on August 14, 1919, a son of the late Leslie Javel Howard and Nancy Fulton Howard. He lived all his life in Georgetown Co. and was a former employee of International Paper Co. Mr. Howard retired as co-owner of Howard Timber Co. He was a member of Andrews Church of God.
Mr. Howard was predeceased by a son, Clarence Howard.
Surviving are: his wife, Lottie Moore Howard of Andrews; a son Tommy Howard of Georgetown; a daughter, Marjorie Foley of St. Pauls, N.C.; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be three o'clock Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2009, at Andrews Church of God. Officiating will be the Rev. Edward A. Hardee, the Rev. Wayne Cox, and the Rev. Wallace Strickland. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
