Thomas Dorsey Jr.
Funeral services for the late Thomas Dorsey Jr. were held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Hopewell AME Church in Hemingway, SC. Rev. Dr. Kylon Middleton, pastor will conduct the religious services. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Dorsey entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at his residence in Hemingway after a sudden illness. He was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Thomas Sr. and Viola Dorsey. He was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. Mr. Anderson was affiliated with Hopewell AME Church at an early age. He was employed with Wellman Inc. for many years. Loving memories will be cherished by three sisters, Annie Frasier and Louvenia (Ben) Johnson, both of Hemingway, Minnie Dorsey of Plantersville; five brothers, Albert (Amanda) Dorsey of Martinville, VA, Willie James Dorsey of Hemingway, Esau Dorsey of Newark, NJ, John Henry Dorsey of Fairfax, SC and Jerry Dorsey of Georgetown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cornelius Gamble
Cornelius Gamble of Georgetown, SC died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, 2010 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, directed by Linen-Knox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Baptist Cemetery on Highmarket Street. Mr. Gamble was born August 18, 1938 in Trio, SC, a son of the late Mr. Ed Gamble and Lizzie Brown Gamble. He attended Williamsburg County public schools. He was a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Doris Hicks Gamble; four daughters, Shelia Smith, Tovontra Funnie, Bonnie Gail Gamble and Theodisha Becote; seven sons, Lamar Gamble, Ronald Gamble, Randy Gamble, Jeffery Gamble, Jimmy Hicks Gamble and Terry Sargent; three sisters, Janie Radcliff, Lela Gamble and Alice Gamble; and two brothers, Damon Gamble and Harry Gamble.
Lewis Harmon Sr.
Lewis Chandler Harmon Sr., 84, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Morningside of Georgetown. Graveside funeral services, officiated by Rev. Danny Chamblee, were Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Burial will be directed by Graham Funeral Home. Mr. Harmon was born in Union, South Carolina and was the son of the late Lewis and Sidney Cora Harmon. He was retired from International Paper Company’s Woodlands Division and was a member of 1255th Engineer Battalion Association, the VFW, Pine Tree Club, and the Quarter Century Club. Mr. Harmon was also a devoted member of Wayne United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of The Veterans of Battle of the Bulge Organization. Surviving are his son, Lewis Chandler Harmon Jr. of Georgetown; his daughter, Dianne and her husband Bony Peace of Georgetown; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hampton Peace, Wynne and Perry Peace, and Andy Peace, all of Pawleys Island; a step-grandson, Sgt. Adam Harmon and his wife Rachel of Hawii, three great grandsons, Hampton Peace V and Chandler Peace, both of Pawleys Island, Jacob Harmon of Hawii; one great granddaughter, Ansley Peace of Pawleys Island;three sisters, Lelia Bassin and her husband Mort of California, Peggy Langley and her husband Ellis, Linda Greer and her husband Hubert; a brother Gene and his wife Betty, all of Union; sister-in-laws, Katherine Spence and her husband Sam of Augusta, Georgia, Bertie Kingsmore of Union and Louise Kingsmore of Rock Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Harmon was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Kingsmore Harmon and a great-granddaughter, Walker Elizabeth Peace. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidelands Hospice, 2591 N. Kenneth Lowery
Kenneth James Lowery, 48, of 410 S. Maple Ave., Andrews, SC, departed this life on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 12 noon Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Mt. Lebanon AME Church in Andrews, SC with Bishop James Cooper, officiating. Burial follows in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes. Mr. Lowery son of Archie Lowery and the late Olivia Lowery was born August 22, 1961 in Georgetown County, he received his education in Georgetown County Schools. Survivors are, his father, Archie Lowery, Andrews, SC; three brothers, Ervin Lowery, Russell Lowery and Derrick Chandler of Andrews, SC; two sisters, Priscilla Lowery and Jennifer Rivers of Andrews, SC.
