John Henry Bogan, 78, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at his home.
Born on March 25, 1933, in Swannanoa, N.C., he was the son of the late Odelle Bogan and the late Mary Stephenson Bogan.
Mr. Bogan was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict.
He was a man of many talents and accomplishments to include being an inventor and a writer having written many articles for the U.S. Government.
His hobbies included restoring vintage bicycles and working with the Greyhound Rescue organizations.
Survivors include five children, Suzanne Poston (Steve, Sr.) of Georgetown, Vicky Chandley (Douglas) of Georgetown, Beth Allred (David) of Kernersville, N.C., John Bogan, Sr. (Crystal) and Stephen Bogan (Melissa), all of Georgetown; 15 grandchildren, Stephanie Elliott, Eddie Poston, Sandi Wilder, Michelle Carter, Misty Sanders, Joni Howell, Ashley Baker, John Bogan, Jr., Christina Bogan, Katie Bogan, Mary Larimore, Edward Larimore, Courtney Larimore, David Beeson, Jr. and Jeffery Beeson; 14 great grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Crystal June.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Graham Funeral Home.

Josephine Brown
Josephine Linnen Brown, 84, of the Choppee Community of Georgetown County, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Nazareth AME Church in the Choppee Community.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Linen-Knox Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born on November 3, 1927, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Ezekiel and Erlena Linnen.
She attended Georgetown County puclic schools and was a member of Nazareth AME Church.
Mrs. Brown was joined in holy matrimony to the late Joe Brown, Jr. in March of 1953 and this union was blessed with 10 children.
Loving memories of Josephine will live on in the hearts of her children, Charles Brown, Joe Nathan Brown, Zelma Brown, Mary Washington, Roy Brown, Mark Brown, Alethia Ford, Barbara Brown, Betty Brown and Charlena Brown, all of Georgetown; her brother, Harry Linnen of New York; her sisters, Lena Ford and Elsie Pringle, both of Georgetown; 31 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Willie Brown; three grandchildren raised as her own, Carlos Brown, Jasmine Washington and Da’Tron Brown; three adopted grandchildren, Lonna Singleton, Johnathan Singleton and Nathan Singleton; two special friends, Mattie Green and Walter “Buck” Green; and her nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Walter Kennedy
Walter Edward Kennedy, 60, of Hemingway, widower of Judy Rachels, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born July 10, 1951, in Hamlet, N.C. he was the son of Pearl Roberts Kennedy and the late Edward J.W. Kennedy.
He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed working with woodcrafts.
He was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School.
Survivors include his mother; daughter, Bonnie Angel Kennedy and step-son Joshua Kennedy; sisters, Mary (Thomas) Coble, Wilma Carter, Brenda Gail Gray, Emma (Tim) McClure; brothers, Courtney Eugene (Jongy) Kennedy, Danny Kennedy, and Christopher Kennedy; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Billy Gray; and a sister-in-law, Shannon Kennedy.
Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Freedom Tabernacle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, February 8, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m.
