Joseph Ferrante
Joseph Vincent Ferrante, 67, of Georgetown, SC, died on December 8, 2009 in Georgetown, SC. Funeral services for Mr. Ferrante will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Chester Hill Baptist Church in the Lanes Creek Community of Georgetown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Ferrante was born March 7, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to Jack Ferrante and Mrs. Anna Ferrante. He attended the public schools of Brooklyn, NY and was a member Chester Hill Baptist Church where he sang with the G.J.W. Choir and worked as custodian of the church. Until his retirement in 1994, he worked for the Brooklyn Union Gas Co. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Ferrante is survived by his wife, Laura Ferrante of Georgetown, SC; his mother, Anna Ferrante of Georgetown, SC; his sons, Johanthan White of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Joseph Ferrantte and Michael Ferrante, both of Long Island, NY; his daughters, Tony Gibson of Little River, SC, Patricia White of Atlanta, GA and Kimyetta White of Georgetown, SC. Family visitation will be held from 6 p.m. on Friday evening, December 11, 2009 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel. Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
Archie Hartley
Archie Hartley, husband of Linda Owens Hartley of Georgetown entered into eternal rest Monday morning, December 7, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Hartley was born the son of Minor Hartley and Maggie H. Hartley on May 5, 1937 in Jamestown. He was a contractor and attended the Six Mile Crossing Church of God. Archie and Linda were married on March 8, 1970 and celebrated 39 years together. From this blessed union survive four children, Timothy (Tammy) Hartley, Vance (Darlene) Taylor, ArSheila H. Creel and Doris (Howard) Bass; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Ethel Lambert, Dorothy Burrows and Mamie Cribb. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009, at the Eastside Free Will Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church with internment in the Guordine Chapel Cemetery, directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation was Wednesday evening, December 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McKenzie’s Georgetown Chapel, 843-546-0198. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hartley family. Luther Herman
Luther Herman,74, of 5754 South Fraser, Mid-way Community, Georgetown, SC departed this life on Monday, December 7, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 7275 Browns Ferry Road, Georgetown, SC with Rev. Dr. Howard D. Davis, officiating. Burial follows in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes. Mr. Herman son of the late David and Amelia Herman English was born October 18, 1935, he was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Margie Franklin-Herman, Georgetown, SC; three sons, Arthur Lee Herman, Leonard Herman and Frederick Herman, all of Georgetown, SC; reared as a daughter of their own, Jamice Williams, Georgetown, SC; four brothers, James D. Herman, Thomas Herman, Louis Herman of Georgetown, SC and Walter English of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Virginia McCray and Betty Baker, both of Georgetown, SC; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Barbara Terry
Barbara Anne Terry, 75, of Pawleys Island died Monday, December 7, 2009 at her residence. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Werdna Austraw. Barbara was a member of the Carriage Club and Brookgreen Gardens, and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Waccamaw Parrish. Barbara was a loving mother and wonderful friend. She was devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Barbara was a dog lover and an animal enthusiast. Her magical smile and heartwarming laugh will stay in the hearts of those who loved her. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Julian Russell Terry. Survivors include her children, David R. Terry, Sharon Terry Laroe, Donna Jane Terry Feley, Daniel “Dan” Alan Terry and Shannon Terry Plank; nine grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Elizabeth, Branson, Sanders, Danny, Caroline, Mary Kathryn and Madison; a brother, Richard Austraw; and her former husband and dear friend, Henry Allen. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at All Saints Waccamaw Parrish with Reverend Jeff Wallace and Laurie McAlpine officiating.
