Wilson Bennett
Wilson Bennett, 79, of Murrells Inlet, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown.
Funeral services will be held in Olmsted Township, Ohio.

Mr. Bennett was born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late William and Mariam Bennett. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and the chief executive officer of Wilson Bennett Construction and Northeastern Cement. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Covenant Church of Hudson, Ohio, as well as a member of Bluecoats, Inc. of Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was also the founder of Stay a While Cat Shelter in North Royalton, Ohio, and was an avid pilot and sailor.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah of Murrells Inlet; two stepsons, Deryck Haynam of Murrells Inlet and Shaun Haynam of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Mary Jean Peterson of Washington, D.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond Carter Jr.
Raymond Alexander "Al" Carter Jr. of Little River died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008 at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach with Dr. John Gambrell officiating. Mr. Carter was born April 23, 1968 in Georgetown County, a son of the late Raymond A. and Peggy Goude Carter.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach.
Survivors include: his wife, Jennifer Stalnaker Carter of Little River; and his two children, Bailee and Jacob Carter, both of Little River.

Jink L. Hucks
Jink Ladson "Sam" Hucks, 95, of Johnsonville, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 in the Old Johhnsonville United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008.
Mr. Hucks was born in Britton's Neck, S.C., a son of the late Jink Franklin and Claudia Pope Hucks. He was retired from Wellman Industries and was a retired farmer, a member of the Old Johnsonville United Methodist Church and attended Marion County schools.
Mr. Hucks was predeceased by his first wife, Rockie W. Hucks and a grandson; and four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are: his wife, Gracie T. Hucks of the home; children, Ladson LeRay Hucks (Mazie) of Johnsonville and Dorothy H. Larrimore (Willie) of Sumter; step-children, Linda A. Miller (Leo) and Tim Tyler (Linda) both of Hemingway; Patty McKissick (Brad) and Lisa Fenters (Barry), both of Johnsonville, and Rodney Tyler of Lumberton, N.C.; brothers, Herbert and Howard Hucks, both of Johnsonville; 7 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Frances C. Marsh
Frances Courtney Marsh, 85, of Andrews, the wife of Charles Marsh and the daughter of the late William Horace Courtney and Mattie Leone Courtney, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008.
Service of Life and Worship was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at the Andrews First Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Paul Sapp. The Marsh family received family and friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Marsh was born April 21, 1923, in Effingham and spent most of her life in Florence and Andrews. She owned Interiors by Frances and was named in the National Who's Who for two consecutive years for her work. She was an active member of Andrews First Baptist Church, serving as a teacher for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs.
Survivors include: her husband of Andrews; a daughter, Diane Dority Wadford of Columbia; and a granddaughter, Wendy Adams (Eddie); three great-grandchildren, Christopher Wadford (Jennifer), Zane Adams, and Stephanie Fite Bingham (Troy), and four great-great-grandchildren, Michelle, Jacob, Emma, and Riley, all of Zebulon, Ga.
She was one of seven siblings and is survived by a brother, Dudley Courtney (Carolyn) of Florence, and predeceased by Charles Courtney, William Courtney, Franklin "Sonny Boy" Courtney, Margie C. Ellis, and Betty Jean Courtney.

Margaret Mitchell, 77, of Murrells Inlet, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008.

Maybell S. Rich
Maybell S. Rich, 87, of Nesmith, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Nesmith, with the Rev. James E. Scott, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, under the direction of Nesmith-Pinckney Funeral Home of Hemingway.
Mrs. Rich was born Nov. 20, 1920, a daughter of the late Frank and Edna Scott. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. She joined St. Mark AME Church. Following her marriage, she joined Morning Star Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer, choir member, usher, missionary and served on the kitchen committee. She was also a member of the farmers aids and Home Charity Lodge.
She was predeceased by her late husband, Ernest "Buddie" Rich and one son and one daughter.
Survivors are: two sons, Emanuel Rich (Hallie) and Horace Rich (Irene), both of Nesmith; three daughters, Edna Cooper (James), Richlyn McCrea, Magdalene Cooper (Eddie), all of Nesmith; two brothers, Celon Scott and Ransom Scott, both of Nesmith; 18 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Mary Rigby
Mary Ann Nicholson Rigby, 76, of Litchfield Beach, wife of A.J. Rigby, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 in N.E. and Ruby Green Hospice House in Georgetown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in the Chapel of Williamsburg Funeral Home of Kingstree. Burial will follow in Kingstree Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Rigby was born Oct. 1, 1931 in Havana, Florida, a daughter of James Malcolm and Ann Carraway Nicholson. She graduated from Havana High School and Florida State University, and was a former teacher. She was a Methodist. Mrs. Rigby was preceded in death by two brothers, James D. Nicholson of Dallas and Paul Nicholson of Quincy, Fla.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of Litchfield Beach are: two daughters, Mary Jay Brower of Metter, Ga. and Cheryl Van Deusen of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a son, Leon Van Deusen of Port Orange, Fla.; two stepsons, William D. "Billy" Rigby of Litchfield Beach, and George A. "Al" Rigby and his wife, Marcie, of Kingstree, and their children, Kyle and Mason Rigby of Kingstree; a sister, Doris Bert of Havana, Fla.; and a close friend and physician, Dr. Gerald Congdon (Karyn) and their children, Max, Jack and Molly. Mrs. Rigby was Godmother to Jack.

Roger E. Ward
Roger E. Ward, 62, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church. Officiating was Dr. Ted Sherill. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Ward was born Nov. 4, 1945, in Georgetown, a son of the late Eugene R. Ward and the late Ruth M. Morris Ward Baker.
Mr. Ward was a 1964 graduate of Winyah High School and also attended Clemson University until returning home to manage the family business, Ward's Roofing. He spent 18 years in sales and management of forestry products for Clark Equipment Co./VME America.
His family moved to Columbia in 1988, where he managed the South Carolina branch of L.B. Smith Equipment until he joined his wife in the operation of Floor Coverings International, a franchise they purchased in 1992. He returned to Georgetown in 2002 and earned his captain's license. He was in sales for Nautica Marine until 2006.
He was a charter member of Wayne United Methodist Church and had been attending First Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Camlin Ward of the home; three daughters, Toni W. Bunting (Kevin) and Kelli W. Goodwin (Glenn) of Mt. Pleasant, and Jessica W. Moultrie (K.C.) of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren, Joshua Bunting, Justin Bunting, Jessie Bunting, Jane Bunting, Grace Goodwin, Emily Goodwin, Olivia Moultrie and Gabriella Moultrie; two sisters, Edna W. Freeman of Georgetown and Barbara W. Mishoe of Greeleyville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by an infant brother, Morris E. Ward in 1935.
