FUNERAL SERVICES

Maggie Benton

Maggie Graham Benton, 85, of Bonneau, widow of the late Brooks Benton, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Benton was born in Galivants Ferry, a daughter of the late Hooker Parker and Helen Rae Parker.

She was a member of Andrews Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Sylvia (Buddy) Hucks of Brittons Neck, SC, Bonnie (Harry) Thomas of Bonneau, SC, and Yvonne (Ralph) Bauer of Andrews, SC; two sons, Sam (Ann) Johnson of Sumter, SC and Kenny (Rhonda) Johnson of Georgetown, SC; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with the Rev. Elbert Welch, Rev. Chesley Floyd, and Rev. Ray Hutto officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pearl Dennison

Pearl M. Dennison, 93 of the Plantersville Community, Georgetown, SC, died on Saturday, November 7, 2009 in Georgetown, SC.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dennison will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Bethel AME Church, Plantersville Community, Georgetown.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.

Mrs. Dennison was born September 21, 1916 in Georgetown, SC to Benjamin Morant and Mrs. Sally Ann Gallant Morant.

She attended Georgetown County Public Schools and was a member of Bethel AME Church where she served on the Missionary Society, Chairperson of the Senior Choir and Leader of Class No. 5.

She worked as a seamstress, housekeeper and in latter years she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Dennison is survived by five sons, Stephen Dennison of Raleigh, NC, Welmon Dennison of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cephus Dennison and Earl Dennison of Georgetown, SC and Harold Dennison of Burgess, SC; three daughters, Otelia Alston of Baltimore, MD, Verdella Dennison and Joyce McBride of Norwalk, CT; 22 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren.

Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Mildred Lambert

Mildred Tumbleston Lambert, 88, widow of Dethel Leo Lambert of Georgetown, passed away Thursday morning, November 12, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Lambert was born the daughter of Henry Tumbleston and Emma Grooms Tumbleston on November 21, 1920, in Summerville, SC.

She was a retired machine operator and quality control inspector for Oneita Industries.

She was a faithful member of the St. Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served in the Women's Ministry and as Secretary of the Adult Sunday School Class.

"Ms. Mildred," as she was affectionately called, will be remembered for her spirit of hospitality.

Over the years, many found a warm and peaceful haven in her home, especially the young people of Lambertown.

She always made sure no one left hungry.

She leaves behind four children, Elbert (Irene) Lambert, Mitchell (Annalyn) Lambert, Joyce (Shot) Lambert, and Eunice (Winston) McKenzie; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leo (Gail) Lambert; 13 granchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son Leo Lambert, and two granddaughters, Sheila Lambert and Tina M. Bratcher.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2009, at the St. Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church, directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday evening, November 13, 6 to 8 p.m., in the sanctuary of the St. Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.

McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lambert family.

Harry McCray

Harry Lee McCray of 2321 Prince Street, Georgetown, SC departed this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Calvary Missionary Church in Georgetown with Rev. Lorenzo Smalls, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.

Mr. McCray son of the late Houston and Mary Gamble Parson was born September 12, 1950, Georgetown, SC, he attended Georgetown County Schools, he was a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors are his children, April Dennison, Columbia, SC, Amanda Dennison, Jermaine Dennison, Christina Dennison and Christopher Dennison of Minnesota; four sisters, Eulah Washington, Georgetown, SC, Thomasena McCray and Mary Ann Grant, Pawleys Island, SC, Elizabeth M. Porcher, Nesmith, SC; and one brother, Herman Parson, Durfies, VA.

John Tisdale Jr.

John Edward "Johnny" Tisdale Jr., 40, of Salters died Thursday, November 12, 2009 in McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Tisdale was born January 11, 1969 in Williamsburg County, a son of Pearline Parker Tisdale and the late J.E. Tisdale, Sr.

He graduated from Kingstree High School and was a logger.

Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Daniels.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Pearline Tisdale of Salters are his fianc, Kristi Wilder of Salters; two sons, John E. Tisdale III and Dustin Tisdale, both of Macedonia; and a sister, Vicky Woodard of Griffin, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Williamsburg Funeral Home with burial following in Tisdale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday evening at the funeral home.

Mary White

Mary White aka "Oliver" of 8825 Thurgood Marshall Highway in the Bloomingvale Community of Andrews, SC departed this life on Monday, November 9, 2009 in Carolina Hospital Systems.

Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church in the Bloomingvale Community of Andrews with Rev. DeBerry Cook, officiating.

Burial will follow in Asbury-Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.

Mrs. White, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Sally Gordon was born April 8, 1923 in the Mingo Community, Georgetown, SC.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, on the Missionary Society and president of the Senior Choir.

Survivors are her son, Arthur White, Savannah, GA; two daughters, Eva W. Julious and Rosa Lee McCullough, both of Andrews, SC; one adopted son, Donald J. Scott of Andrews, SC; one sister, Celia Meriweather of Georgetown, SC; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
