Cornell Brockington
Cornell Brockington, 27, of Hemingway died Friday, July 18, 2008 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Nesmith-Pinckney Funeral Home of Hemingway. The family is receiving friends at the residence.
James Denny Jr.
James "Bobby Lones" Denny Jr., 26, of Garden City Beach, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Graveside service were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Denny was born in Greensboro, N.C., to Susan Lones and his father, Larry.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Spence Ferguson of Greensboro, N.C.; Corey Joe Lones of Thomasville, N.C.; and Larry Lones Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Casey Mabe of High Point, N.C. and Lorie Smith Brown of Summit, N.C.; his grandmother, Hattie Johnson of Greensboro, N.C.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Paul Dozier
Paul Dozier, 80, of Rocky Mount, N.C., died Friday, July 18, 2008 at Rocky Mount Hospital.

Lois H. Fletcher
Lois Hanna Fletcher, 79, of Pawleys Island, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank S. Holsclaw. Burial will follow in Pawleys Island Presbyterian churchyard.

Mrs. Fletcher was born near Andrews in the Big Dam community of Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Edward Hanna and Emma Ethridge Hanna Powell. She was reared by her mother and late step-father, Gilpen B. Powell. Mrs. Fletcher worked at Georgetown Dress Co. for a time and retired from Santee Electric Cooperative. She was a member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Fletcher was predeceased by: her husband, Harris G. Fletcher Jr.; a granddaughter, Hannah Leeann Fletcher; and two sisters, Pearl Coker and Evelyn Sims.
Surviving are: a son, Harris G. Fletcher III (Jill) of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Lynette F. Johnson (Todd) of Long Key, Fla.; three grandchildren, Anna Grace Fletcher of Pawleys Island, Nicholas Earl Johnson of Andrews, N.C., and Karl Gordon Johnson of Conway; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pamela J. Holt
Pamela Jewel Holt of Georgetown died Friday, July 18, 2008.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating was the Rev. Tommy Cox, Rev. Johnny Wilson and Mr. Jimmy Holt. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

She was born Oct. 29, 1954 in Georgetown, a daughter of Horace Wendell Goins Sr. and Frankie Jewel Hammond Goins. Mrs. Holt was a 1972 graduate of Howard High School where she was class valedictorian.
She first worked for the former Pacific Finance Co. and for many years was employed with the former Andrews Bank and Trust and then Bank of America. During her banking career she served in many capacities including teller, head teller and head bookkeeper. The last several years she was employed as a home interior representative. She was a member of Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are: her husband, Jerome Holt of the home; her parents of Georgetown; one brother, Horace Goins Jr. of Georgetown; two sisters, Rev. Wanda Wilson and Janice Ruth Caulder, both of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mildred F. Johnson
Mildred Collins Foxworth Johnson, 72, of Johnsonville, died Friday, July 18, 2008 in a Florence hospital.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Hemingway. Burial followed in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Marion, a daughter of the late Frank and Betty Lucy Mclellan Collins. She was a homemaker, a member of the Old Johnsonville United Methodist Church and attended Marion County schools.
Surviving are: her children, Frankie Foxworth and Wanda Gaster (Wyman), both of Johnsonville; grandchildren, Wesley, Whitney and Wynter Gaster, all of Johnsonville; brothers, Legrande Collins (Peggy) of Florence, Bill Collins (Martha) of Richmond, Va. and Laborn Collins of Dillon; sisters, Rose Poston of Charlotte, N.C., Frankie Mae Goldbolt (Richard) of Marion and Mary Johnson (Jerry) of Pamplico.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Collins Jr. and Leanue Collins; and a sister, Betty Woodard.

Elma H. Tompkins
Elma Brooks Hickman Tompkins, 93, of Macon, Ga. died on Thursday, July 17, 2008.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Emmanuel Church in Macon. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown, on Monday, July 21, 2008.
Snow's Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, Cherry Street in Macon, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Colleton County on March 7, 1915, daughter of Henry Hayes Hickman and Marie Emily Ritter. She grew up in Charleston and graduated from Memminger High School. She was married to Lowie Tompkins on March 24, 1940 (died July 10, 1955 in Georgetown).
Mrs. Tompkins was employed by the Georgetown Cash Depository and retired from the South Carolina Department of Human Services. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Rome, Ga. While in Rome she was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a Sunday School teacher, choir member, superintendent of the Youth Division, and member of the Official Board of the West Rome United Methodist Church.
She was an active member of Soul-Saving Station of Georgetown as well as Harvest Cathedral and Emmanuel Church in Macon.
She is survived by: her sister, Mrs. Lena Gibson (Boyce F.) of Charleston; her daughter, Mrs. Patricia Annette Tompkins (John) Dunaway, three grandchildren: Michael John Dunaway (Gates) of Decatur, Ga., Jennifer Brooks Clark (Chris) of Macon, and Joseph Marson Dunaway of Macon; and six great-grandchildren: Asa Jackson Clark, Audie Brooks Clark, Marion Alice Clark, and Charles John Clark of Macon and Clary Patricia Grace Dunaway and John Michael Gale Dunaway of Decatur.

William G. Welch
William Gordon Welch, 82, of Atlanta, Ga., and Georgetown, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 in Georgetown.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. Officiating will be the Rev. Allison Williams and the Rev. Joanna Adams.
The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Welch was born on Nov. 10, 1925 in Riverside, Ill. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kingsport, N.Y. and the University of Illinois in 1950, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Mr. Welch founded Atlanta Solvents Chemical Company in 1954, Alchemy South, Ltd. in 1980, and Atlanta Snap Seal in 1993, where he owns two patents.
Mr. Welch was a past president of The Atlanta Chemical Sales Club. He was a member of Cherokee Town and Country Club and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by: his wife, Virginia (Jinny) of 57 years; his son, Thomas H. Welch of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughters, Martha Wilson (Hank) of Newport News, Va., Mary Ann Stewart (Scott) and Melissa Carter (Sandy), all of Roswell, Ga.; ten grandchildren, Joseph A. Carrington (Elizabeth) of Greenville, Caroline V. Stewart of Decatur, Ga., Hunter L. Wilson (Katie) of Bowling Green, Ky., Katharine A. Carrington and Mary Allison Stewart, both of Roswell, Ga., Emily L. Wilson of Newport News, Va., James S. Stewart Jr. of Roswell, Ga., W. Spencer Welch of Marietta, Ga., Annie S. Wilson of Newport News, Va., and Thomas C. Welch of Marietta, Ga.
He is also survived by Allen W. Carrington (Cindy) of Pawleys Island.
