Sylvia W. Askins
Sylvia Whitmire Askins, 68, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Lake City First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Brockington Funeral Home, Lake City, followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Askins was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Greenville, a daughter of Rosa Robinson Whitmire and the late Guy Roland Whitmire. She was the wife of C.B. Askins Jr. of Lake City.
Surviving are her mother of Florence; her husband of the home; two sons, Carson Askins of Murrells Inlet and Scott Askins (Tina) of Lake City; a brother, Tom Whitmire of Dallas, Texas; three granddaughters, Julia Askins and Ginnifer Hartman, both of Murrells Inlet, and Sophia Askins of Lake City; and three grandsons, Billy Askins of Murrells Inlet and Zack and Joshua Askins, both of Lake City.

Nathaniel Brave of Georgetown died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Alton Bright
Alton Bright, 55, of Georgetown, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, with Dr. Lorenzo Smalls officiating. Burial, directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home, followed in Morning Glory Cemetery.
Mr. Bright was born April 22, 1953, in Georgetown, a son of the late Wesley and Anna Bell McDowell Bright. He was educated in the public schools of Georgetown County and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also served with the military police in the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife, Agnes of Georgetown; a daughter, Dee Dee Bright of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, Ruther L. Gamble and Jessie M. Singleton, both of Georgetown, and Annette Bellamy of Bucksport; four brothers, Wesley Bright Jr. of Andrews, Curtis Bright of Georgetown, Alvin Bright of Tacoma, Wash., and Michael Drayton of Georgetown; and six stepchildren, Sandra Gilliard, Rodney Simmons, Terrance Gilliard, Virvitine Williams, James Bryant and Ricky Gillard.
Donald F. Bullard
Donald F. Bullard, 75, of Surfside Beach, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Bullard was born in Worcester, Mass., a son of the late Leo and Eleanor Bullard. He retired to the area, moving from Worcester, where he lived and worked all his life. He had been a member of the National Guard.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Vivian; six children, Michael Bullard of Myrtle Beach, Donna DiSando of Ashburnham, Mass., Linda Bastille of Buxton, Maine, Carol Bullard of Tulsa, Okla., and James Bullard and Rosemary Pastick, both of Surfside Beach; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Alex Gamble of Jersey City, N.J., formerly of Georgetown, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at his residence in Newark, N.J.

Carlisle W. Lambert
Carlisle Woodrow Lambert, 69, of Andrews, husband of Ellen T. Johns Lambert, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by McKenzie Funeral Home, Andrews Chapel, will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Lambert was born Feb. 19, 1939 in Andrews, a son of the late Mannie Lee Lambert and Beatrice Wheeler Lambert. He was a retired farmer and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Gator Bay Hunting Club and attended the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was predeceased by a brother, Tommy Lambert.
Surviving are his wife of Andrews; four sons, Mark Anthony Lambert of Andrews, Ricky Carlisle Lambert of Bennettsville and Fred James "Jamie" Johns III (Tracy) and Kelvin Ray Johns, both of Andrews; a brother, Timothy Alvin "Timmy" Lambert of Pamplico; and five grandchildren.
George P. Michel
George Paul Michel, 78, of Murrells Inlet, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Mr. Michel was born in Poland, a son of the late Paul and Irene Michel. He earned his electrical engineering degree from the University of Akron, Ohio. He had retired from A.B.B. South Boston, Va., in 1995 and was a member of United Church of Christ in South Boston.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Charles Michel (Susan) of Bentonville, Ark., and Scott Michel (Tiffany) of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters, Megan and Stephanie Michel; and a brother, Andrew Michel of Southlake, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Joseph A. Murphy
Joseph A. Murphy, 83, of Murrells Inlet, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Prince George Village, Georgetown.
Services will be private. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Murphy was born in New York, a son of the late James and Margaret Murphy. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Murphy was a retired electronics tech with Sperry Corporation on Long Island and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Murphy.
Surviving are two sons, John Murphy of Middletown, N.Y., and Kevin Murphy of New York City, N.Y., and two grandchildren, Ramona and Lucy Murphy.
Vivian E. Radford
Vivian Elaine Radford, 85, of Garden City Beach, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008.
A celebration of life service was held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Belin United Methodist Church. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Radford was born in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward and Edna Losh. She was a descendant of one of the first families to settle in Ohio. Mrs. Radford attended Dayton public schools and the University of Dayton. She was employed as an executive secretary before becoming a homemaker. She and her husband Charles retired to Garden City Beach in 1986. She was a member of Belin Memorial Methodist Church, where she served as a communion steward for 10 years and also was a member of the Worship Committee.
Mrs. Radford and her husband celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 3, 2008.
Surviving are three children, Deborah Lynne Radford Frownfelter of Lees Summit, Mo., Kevin Charles Radford of New Brighton, Pa., and Patricia Ann Radford of Sarver, Pa.; six grandchildren, Alaina Frownfelter of Lewisberry, Pa., Ross Frownfelter of Harrisburg, Pa., Stacy Radford of McKeesrock, Pa., Jessica Bridges of Tucson, Ariz., Laura Drathman of Erie, Pa., and Kate Drathman of New Brighton, Pa.

Marie S. Scorzello
Marie Sampogna Scorzello, 63, of Murrells Inlet, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Burial, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, will follow at 2 p.m. at Florence National Cemetery.
Mrs. Scorzello was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Dominic and Natalie Sampogna. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Angelo Scorzello of Murrells Inlet; a son, John Scorzello of Murrells Inlet; and a sister, Angela Ciervo of New Jersey.

Bill G. Tuttle
Bill Gene Tuttle, 77, of Garden City Beach, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at his residence.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Goldfinch Funeral, Beach Chapel, with Chaplain Cliff Gilmer officiating.
Mr. Tuttle was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., a son of the late Herbert and Ruth Tuttle. He retired from Western Telephone Electric Company after 35 years. Mr. Tuttle was a Mason and attended Pawleys Island Community Church.
He was predeceased by three brothers, H.C., Richard and Don Tuttle.
Surviving are his wife, Dot Tuttle, of Garden City Beach; a son, Steven G. Tuttle of Garden City Beach; a daughter, Sandra Lynn Tuttle of Murrells Inlet; five brothers, Charles of Garden City Beach, Bud of Morehead City, N.C., George of Franklin, N.C., and Alec of Winston-Salem; and a sister, Louise Bowling of Garden City Beach.
