Mable G. Brown

Mable Beulah Godbolt Brown, 82, of Georgetown, the widow of Jay Gould Brown, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the Collins Creek Baptist Church in Murrells Inlet. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in the Georgetown Chapel.

Mrs. Brown was born Oct. 18, 1925, in the Daisy Community of Horry County, the daughter David Archie Godbolt and Maggie McCracken Godbolt. She was a retired operator of the Georgetown Box Plant and a member of Collins Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are: one daughter, Freddie Mae Hoffman (Jeffrey) of Georgetown; four brothers, Christopher Columbus "Chris" Godbolt, George Washington Godbolt, Francis Thomas "Frank" Godbolt, and David Archie "Junior" Godbolt Jr.; two sisters, Mary Kate G. Todd and Patsy G. Martin; five grandchildren, Jay G. Ward, Roxanne L. Campbell, Kimberly R. Roberts, Mark A. Brown, and David Chase Brown; 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a son, David Asbury Brown; a granddaughter, Cynthia Denise Rodgers; two brothers, Dock Scarborough Godbolt and Jim David "JD" Godbolt; and a sister, Violet Lee Weavil.

Russell Croslin

Russell Croslin, 66, of Hemingway, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at Kingstree Nursing Facility. The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Nesmith-Pinckney Funeral Home of Hemingway.

Sandra M. Farmer

Sandra Mercer Farmer, 66, of West Columbia, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008.

Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, Charleston. Pallbearers will be Charles T. Young, Matthew Young, Thomas F. Brant, Jim Sullivan, Albert Brown and William M. Milligan III. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Farmer was born in Charleston. She was a daughter of the late H. Edward Mercer and Virginia Smith Mercer. She was retired from the Boy Scouts of America, Indian Waters Council in Columbia.

Survivors are: her husband, John Farmer of West Columbia; sister, Delores Campbell of Hartsville; two grandchildren, Lance Corporal Jeffery W. Johnson of the U.S. Marine Corps and Jason Daniel Martin of Hartsville.

Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by a son, Edward D. Farmer.

Salvatore J. Festa

Salvatore J. Festa age 79, of Pawleys Island, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Goldfinch, Litchfield-Pawleys Chapel. An online guest book is available at www.goldfinchfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Festa was born May 23, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late John S. and Margaret Festa. He was a loving husband and father and who retired from AT&T as a Data Manager, after 40 years of service.

Survivors include: his wife Edith Festa; two sons, John Festa (Patricia) and Chris M. Festa (Susan C.); one daughter, Lorraine DeVita (Anthony); five grandchildren, Mary Festa, Lauren Festa, Marissa Festa, Robert DeVita, Christine DeVita; and a great-grand daughter, Angelina DeVita.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105.

Sharode Grayson

Sharode Grayson of Hanahan died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008 at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home.

William A. Hamer Jr.

William "Wila" Ancel Hamer, Jr., 58, of Georgetown, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Usher. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hamer was born in Marion on Oct. 19, 1949, a son of Lama McDaniel Hamer and the late William Ancel Hamer. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and received a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Hamer was co-owner of Frank L. Siau Insurance Agency for 28 years. He was a former teacher and coached baseball and football for Georgetown County School District for seven years. Mr. Hamer also coached basketball and baseball for the Georgetown County Parks and Recreation Department.

Mr. Hamer was the first president of the Georgetown Auditorium Preservation Society (GAPS). He was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was formerly on the Administrative Board and taught Sunday School for a time.

Surviving are: his wife, Angela Morris Hamer of Georgetown; two sons, William Matthew Hamer and Jonathan Morris Hamer, both of Georgetown; his mother of Georgetown; a brother, W. Ronald Hamer (Mable) of Tatum; and a sister, Charlotte Hamer Moulton (Wallace) of Hemingway.

Donnie E. Hughes

Donnie Ed Hughes, 53, of Hemingway died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Nesmith-Pinckney Funeral Home of Hemingway.

Albert N. Iszard

Albert Nathaniel Iszard, 61, of Columbia, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at Arnett AME Church. Burial, under the direction of Wilds Funeral Home, will be in First Church of God in Christ Cemetery in Georgetown.

Mr. Iszard was born Feb. 8, 1947 in Georgetown, a son of the late Edward Iszard and Viola King Iszard. He attended Howard High School in Georgetown, and was a restaurant manager.

Survivors include: his children, Darren Iszard of Stone Mountain, Ga., Nicholas J. Iszard of North Charleston and Romecia Hilliard of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his siblings, Lamar Iszard of Georgetown, Benedict Iszard of Fayetteville, N.C. and Stanley Iszard of Chesapeake, Va., Brenda Bright of Mobile, Ala. and Janie B. Green of Myrtle Beach; and two grandchildren.

Charles E. Knox

Charles E. Knox of the Plantersville Community of Georgetown died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wilds Funeral Home.

Girline Moultrie

Girline Moultrie, 77, of Georgetown died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at Open Bible Tabernacle Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery, under the direction of Wilds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at the church.

Mrs. Moultrie was born March 25, 1931 in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Leroy Horry and Rebecca Smith Horry. She attended Georgetown County schools and was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church. She was a housekeeper.

Survivors include: a son, Nathaniel Moultrie Jr. of Georgetown; four daughters, Linda Moultrie, Lorraine Moultrie, Jeannine Moultrie and Lisa Chandler, all of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Cremella Bryant of New York, Pearl Logan, Janie Moultrie and Herene Sargent of Georgetown; Ella Kibel and Verba Myers of New York, N.Y., and Cathy of Baltimore, Md.; and 15 grandchildren.

Anita F. Shon

Anita Frances Shon, 77, of Pawleys Island, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at her residence.

A gathering of friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 at Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown with a memorial service to begin at 5:30 p.m. Sign a guestbook at www.grahamfuneralhome.org.

Ester Mae Tompkins

Ester Mae Tompkins, 76, of Georgetown, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008 in Georgetown.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at Alpha Holiness Church. Burial, under the direction of Wilds Funeral Home, will follow in Morning Glory Cemetery in Georgetown.

Mrs. Tompkins was born May 29, 1932 in Georgetown, a daughter of the late James Johnson and Etta Wilson Johnson. She attended Georgetown County schools and was a member of Alpha Holiness Church. She was a housekeeper.

Survivors include: her children, Marvin Elmore of Andrews, Evelyn Tompkins, Hazel Williams and Jefferson Tompkins, all of Georgetown; Christal Fulton of Kingstree; and a grandson reared as a son, Jermaine Reddick of Georgetown; and a sister, Everlena Beckman of Georgetown.

Marion Williams

Marion Williams, 74, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home.
