Myrtle Black
Myrtle Aletha Black, 86, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Okla. with Dr. Larry Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery in Okemah, Okla. under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black was born March 2, 1922 at the family farm in Pleasant Hill in Georgetown County. She was the daughter of Stephen and Ernestine Baxley Owens. She received her education in the Pleasant Hill schools and moved to Charleston in the early 1940s. She met her future husband, William Emanuel Black Jr., who was stationed with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Charleston.
The couple was married in Tacoma, Wash. on Jan. 18, 1946. During his military career they lived in Connecticut, Texas, Nebraska, England and Wichita, Kansas. After his retirement from the Air Force, the couple moved to Cushing, Okla. They moved to Fayetteville, Ark. in 1966 and to Cleveland, Okla. in 1973.
Mrs. Black was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland and the Dorcas Sunday School class. She was a past president of the Philomathic Club and was a former member of the General Federation of Women's Club. She helped raise money in the 1980s to reopen the Cleveland swimming pool and was involved in the Pioneer Days. She was a volunteer at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, William Black and Wesley Mitchell; four brothers, Carl E., Fred C., Woodard G. and Lamar Owens; and one sister, Ruby L. Chinnes.
Survivors are: four daughters, Gail Mitchell of Missouri, Cheryl Acklin (Charles) of Tulsa, Okla., Teresa Tipton of Houston, Texas, and Brenda Hill (Skip) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Thomas E. Owens (Marilyn) of Pleasant Hill; two sisters, Kathleen Patrick of Myrtle Beach and Julia G. DiFede (Frank C.) of Myrle Beach; two sisters-in-law, Nita Owens of Holly Hill and Iva Owens of Johnsonville; seven grandchildren, Keith, Jason, Tasya, Shane, Blake, Angela and Valerie; and one great-grandson Noah.

Billy G. Chaney
Billy George Chaney, 86, of Murrells Inlet, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Chaney was born in New Brighton, Penn., a son of the late LeRoy and Pamellia Chaney. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired steelworker. Mr. Chaney was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Chaney; three brothers, Richard, Lee and Joel Chaney; and two sisters, Lois Oliver and Edith Matotik.
Surviving are: two stepsons, James Tanner of New Brighton, Penn., and David Tanner of Rochester, Penn.; one sister, Nellie Foehringer of Brighton Twp, Penn.; one sister-in-law, Riva Roberts; and one brother-in-law, Frank Matotik.
Harold T. Eaddy
The Rev. Harold "Toby" Eaddy, 81, of Johnsonville, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 in the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, directed by Morris Funeral Home.
Max L. Glazier
Max Thomas Lamar Glazier, 17, of Pawleys Island, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 28, 1991 in Roanoke, Va., a son of Michael Glazier and Laura Jean Mills Glazier. He was a senior at Waccamaw High School, and attended his junior year at the South Carolina Governors School for Arts and Humanities in Greenville. Mr. Glazier was a former Boy Scout, soccer player, and referee. He was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: his parents; a brother, Taylor Glazier; a sister, Mary Glazier; and maternal grandparents, George and Mary Mills, all of Pawleys Island.

Henry Grate Sr.
Henry Grate Sr. of Jamaica, N.Y. died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at Mary Immaculate Hospital in New York.

Carolyn H. Henry
Carolyn Holliday Henry, 64, of Conway, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at her beach home in Litchfield Beach.

Margaret Lambert
Margaret McCants Lambert, 71, of Georgetown, the wife of Floyd Lambert, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at Roper Hospital in Charleston.

Mrs. Lambert was born Nov. 19, 1936, in Andrews, the daughter of Robert Edward McCants and Mary Janie Timmons McCants.
She and her husband Floyd were married Aug. 31, 1954 and celebrated 54 years together.
Survivors include: a daughter, Terri J. Clayton (David) of Summerville; and a grandson, Matthew David Clayton of Summerville; a brother, Thomas Edward McCants (Harriett) of Andrews; four sisters, Elizabeth Ann Blakely (Vernon) of Andrews, Katie Elaine Timmons (the Rev. Gordon) and Francis E. Powell (Thomas "Mutt"), both of Myrtle Beach, and Bonnie Skipper (Billy) of Garden City Beach; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Mary Alice Lambert.
Kenneth Larson Sr.
Kenneth Ernest Larson, Sr., 82, of Murrells Inlet, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 at National Health Care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008 in St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church with Pastor Nels Ledwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.

Mr. Larson was born in Chicago, a son of the late Ernst and Gertrude Larson. He is a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church. Mr. Larson was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Larson.
Surviving are: four daughters, Penelope Powers (Robert) of Murrells Inlet, Patricia Bing (Larry) of Rome, Ga., Pegge Donovan (Tom) of Murrells Inlet, and Paula Grubbs of Paducah, Ky.; one son, Kenneth E. Larson Jr. (Maritza) of Toms River, N.J.; grandchildren, Robert Powers Jr. (Melissa), Kimberly Oakes (Tim), Craig Bing, Kathyrn Mohr, Jennifer Larson, Mallory Larson, Colin Donovan, Ken Donovan, Walker Grubbs, and Julia Grubbs; great-grandchildren, Tyler Powers, Jordan Powers, Corey Powers and Gavin Mohr; two sisters, June Smith (Tom) and Carol Olmstead (Willie), both of California; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Claude and Mary Bonnell of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

W.D. Poston, 85, of Johnsonville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, under the direction of the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Harold L. Pyatt
Harold Lee Pyatt, 48, of the Plantersville community of Georgetown, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel. The family received friends before the service. Wilds Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pyatt was born Sept. 23, 1965 in Georgetown, the son of Lettie Lee Woodbury Pyatt and the late James Pyatt Jr. He attended Choppee High School. He was an auto mechanic.
Survivors include: his mother of Georgetown; siblings, Jammie Pyatt of Rochester, N.Y., James Pyatt of Myrtle Beach, Joey Pyatt of Georgetown and Glenda Grice of Conway.
Virginia B. Reeves
Virginia B. Reeves, 91, of Halifax, Va., widow of Howard W. Reeves, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at her home. She was formerly of Roderfield, W.Va.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 at McKendree U.M. Church in Halifax with the Rev. Brian Simmons officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery, under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of South Boston, Va.
Mrs. Reeves was born July 24, 1917, the oldest daughter of the late Jesse F. and Virgie Garrett Reaves of Cluster Springs, Va.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a part-time postal clerk in Roderfield, W.Va. and Premier, W.Va. post offices.
She was a member of the McKendree U.M. Church where she was a Sunday School teacher of the Ladies Bible Class and a children's Sunday School class. She was a member of the Adult Ladies Bible Class.
Survivors include: four daughters, Melbie R. Jones (Fred) of Andrews, Sandra R. Clayson (Hal) of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., Myrta Reeves-Murrow of Halifax, Va. (formerly of Georgetown), and Lynn Reeves Howard (Bob) of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Howard F. Reeves (Brenda) of South Rockwood, Mich. and Tim A. Reeves (Shirley) of Laurens (formerly of Georgetown; six sisters, Gladys Simmons of Richmond, Va., Hazel Spencer and Mary Emma Irby of South Boston, Peggy Barker of Axton, Va., Joyce Moore and Hilda Thomas of Talbott, Tenn; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband; two brothers, S. Willis Reaves and Ernest L. Reaves, and one sister, Frenchy R. Lewis.

Tally Ward
Tally "Doc" Ward, 82, of Andrews, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services were at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 in Gourdines Chapel Church, conducted by Rev. Themos Cribb and Rev. Eddie Knight. Burial was in the church cemetery, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home of Kingstree.
Mr. Ward was born July 22, 1926 in Georgetown County, a son of the late Emanuel and Fannie W. Ward. He attended Williamsburg County schools and was a retired employee of the Town of Jamestown. Mr. Ward was a member of Gourdines Chapel Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Lambert Ward; grandson, Timothy West, and son-in-law Jamie Powell.
Surviving are: two daughters, Geraldine West (Adman) of Andrews and Wanda Powell of Kingstree; five grandchildren, Tammy West, Bubba West, Melissa Bowers, Bubba Turner all of Andrews and Mandy Phillips of Kingstree; and nine great-grandchildren.
