Richard H. Evans
Richard H. "Dick" Evans, 57, of Pawleys Island, Knoxville, Tenn., and northern Virginia, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service was held from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Litchfield-Pawleys Island Chapel.

Born in Knoxville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Clarence Richard Evans and Ruth Evans Lattrell.
Surviving are his brother, Tim Evans of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters, Gaye Evans of Knoxville, Tenn., Melissa Evans of Murrells Inlet, and Cheryl Makely (Rick) of Reston, Va.; brother, Bill Lattrell of Colrain, Mass.; aunt, Charlotte Ely of Troy, Mich.; uncle, Kenneth Evans of Knoxville, Tenn.; and nieces, Jessica Simon and Chelsea Jordan-Makely of Telluride, Colo.

Archie M. Hartfield
Archie Mayo Hartfield, 78, of Johnsonville, died Friday, April 25, 2008 in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway, with burial in the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hartfield was born in Hemingway, a son of the late Henry and Clyder Cooper Hartfield. He was retired from Seaboard Railroad, and he attended Kingsburg Baptist Church and Indiantown schools.
Surviving are: his wife, Peggy Poston Hartfield of the home; children, Jo Dowdy (Monroe) and Ann Todd (Jimmy), both of Pamplico, Tommy Hartfield (Pam) and Kathy Ramage (Jeff), both of Johnsonville; brother, Rev. Willie Hartfield (Francis) of Florence; sister, Sarah Jo Prosser (Boyd) of Georgetown; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
James L. Hucks Sr.
James Lamar Hucks Sr., 65, of Johns Island, died Friday April 25, 2008.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 in Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Norman Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 2 until 3 p.m., at Johnson Funeral Home in Aynor.
Born Sept. 22, 1943, Mr. Hucks was a son of the late Willie Lamar Cox Hucks and Cary Hyman Hucks. He was a member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James Hucks Jr. of Aynor and James D. Hucks of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Bobby Hucks of Charleston; four sisters, Geraldine Johnson Rozier and Sylvia Prosser, both of Charleston, and Betty Jones and Lila Mae Harrleson, both of Kingstree.
Anita P. Lewter
Anita Perrine Lewter of Murrells Inlet died Friday, April 25, 2008.

George D. MacBay
George Douglas MacBay, 80, of Murrells Inlet, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Services will be private.

Born in Newark, N.J., he was the son of the late David J. and May MacBay.
Mr. MacBay retired after 22 years of service in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Murrells Inlet Veterans of Foreign Wars. A son, George, preceded Mr. MacBay in death.
Surviving are his wife, Marion C. MacBay; sons, Gary, Gavin and Guy, all of Conway, Glen of Garden City Beach, Gordon of Murrells Inlet, and Gardner of Socastee; daughters, Patricia Eastman of Seattle, and Marianne Marsh and Cheryl Melton, both of Conway; sisters, Mary Novack of Homosassa, Fla., and Grace Doyle of Lumberton; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Olrissia McCloud-Bell
Olrissia McCloud-Bell of Nesmith died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Carolina Hospital System in Florence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at St. Paul UM Church in Nesmith, Rev. Franklin James officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. McCloud-Bell was born in Williamsburg County, daughter of George and Rumell McCloud. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County, and graduated from Hemingway High School and Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
She joined St. Paul UM Church at an early age and served as secretary. She was employed at Verizon as a technical/field representative.
She is survived by: her daughter, SeTerra T Ana Mimani Bell of Nesmith; her parents of Nesmith; maternal grandparents, Arron and Carrie Porcher Murkinson of Lynn, Mass.; twin sister, Clarinda McCloud-Massengill (Ronnie) of Billerica, Mass.; older sister Janease LaShawn McCloud (Mark Ierardi) of Lynn, Mass., and youngest twin sisters, Melissa McCloud of Conway and Melinda McCloud of Lake City, youngest sister Vanessa McCloud Finklea (Christopher) of Socastee; and her husband Thomas Bell of New Jersey.

Julian McConnell, 30, of Murrells Inlet, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at his home.

Mabel Morgan
Mabel B. Morgan, 88, of North Augusta, died Friday, April 25, 2008.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 10 a.m. from St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in North Augusta. Father David F.O. Thompson will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Georgetown at 4 p.m. Monday.
The family received friends at Posey Funeral Home in North Augusta from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008.
Mrs. Morgan was a native of Williamson County, Tenn. and a former resident of Georgetown. She made North Augusta her home for the past 19 years.
She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was retired from Georgetown County Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Morgan and sister of the late Douglas Beard and Mitchell Beard.
Survivors include: her daughter, Janet Hardy (Sam) of North Augusta; a sister, Helen Pagel of Withee, Wisc.; grandsons, Sam Hardy IV and Robert W. Hardy; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel B. Hardy.

William F. O'Brien
William Francis O'Brien, 87, of Pawleys Island, died at Tidelands Hospice in Georgetown Friday, April 25, 2008 after a battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at All Saints Waccamaw Old Church with a private internment at the National Military Cemetery in Beaufort.

Mr. O'Brien was born Aug. 9, 1920 in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late William F. O'Brien and Agnes Walsh O'Brien. An outstanding athlete, he graduated from East High School in 1938 and then from the Rochester Institute of Technology with an associate's degree in engineering. He enlisted in the United States Marines during World War II and participated in the battles for Guadalcanal and the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. After the end of the war, he enrolled in the University of Rochester and received his degree in Chemical Engineering. Mr. O'Brien was a Distinguished Fellow in the American Society of Chemical Engineers. Later in life, he added an MBA from the University of South Carolina to his resume.
For over 30 years, he was involved with E.I. DuPont in multiple locations worldwide. He was president and CEO of O'Brien, Walsh, Fitzgerald, and Cooney LLC, engineering consultants, until his retirement. He served later as a commander in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in St. Augustine Florida.
Married to Martha Bacot O'Brien, Mr. O'Brien was a skilled bagpiper, performing with the Gordon Heights Pipe Band in Wilmington, Del., the Royal Stuart Guards of Philadelphia, and the New Caledonian Pipe Band in Buffalo, N.Y. He also played the clarinet in the Watauga Community Band in Banner Elk, N.C. and after moving back to South Carolina played bass clarinet with the Pawleys Island Community Band. For many years he was active in community theatre as well, especially with the Colonial Players in Annapolis, Md. Mr. O'Brien was a member of All Saint's Parish Waccamaw.
He is survived by his wife Martha (Mopsy); his son David (Robin); his daughter Nancy; his grandchildren Trip, Gray, McKenzie, and Meaghan and their spouses; and four great-grandchildren Will, Sarah, Anna and William, all of South Carolina. He is also survived by his step-children Carol, Nancy, Robert, and Eric. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Gerald O'Brien; and a sister, Jean O'Brien Scott.

Mary Louise Talbot
Mary Louise McCall Talbot, 83, of the Lakes at Litchfield, Pawleys Island, died at home on Thursday, April 24, 2008.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 in St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church, Pawleys Island. The family will receive friends after the service at the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Talbot was born in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of the late Mark and Sue McCall. She was a homemaker and lived in North Carolina before becoming a longtime resident of Woodlake Village. Mrs. Talbot was an active member of St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ted Talbot. She also leaves behind a son, Edward W. Talbot Jr. (Cynthia); a daughter, Susan R. Talbot; and a son, Mark D. Talbot (Vicki). She is survived by seven grandchildren, Shelley Pope, Brian Talbot, Nick and Dana Feliciano, Micah, Hannah, and Jacob Talbot; and four great-grandchildren, Seth, Luke and Jake Pope, and Tyler Talbot.

Ruth H. Webb
Ruth Humphries Webb, 74, wife of Fred Harrison Webb of Spartanburg, died Friday, April 25, 2008.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. dr. Kirk Neely and Chaplain Max Benshoof presiding. Burial followed in Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m.
Born in Cleveland County, N.C., on Dec. 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Golden Don and Elva Blanton Humphries. Mrs. Webb was a 1955 graduate of the Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at Mary Black Hospital, where she retired after 33 years of service. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, Mrs. Webb is survived by two daughters, Susan A. Webb Morgan (Scott) of Pelion, S.C. and Theresa Webb Bishop (Doug) of Glendale; a son, David H. Webb (Kellie) of Boiling Springs; a brother, Dean W. Humphries (Gwendalyn) of Concord, N.C.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Ray Jackson Humphries.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in remembrance of Mrs. Webb may be given to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartanburg Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
