The search continued Tuesday for the man believed to be responsible for a murder and attempted murder on the streets of Andrews last Wednesday night.
Andrews Police Chief Harvey Knox said Tuesday he believes there is a good chance 19-year-old Dominic Alexander Leggette is still in the area.
Leggette is accused of shooting and killing 22-year-old Antonio Tisdale and wounding a 16-year-old on West Main Street at about 10:40 p.m. Tisdale died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to an autopsy conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The 16-year-old was shot on the ankle.
According to Andrews Police, the shooting occurred near Blue's Nightclub at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. A crowd had gathered on the scene by the time officers arrived.
Tisdale was on the ground covered in blood, according to a report.
The teen told police Leggette had a T-shirt over his head and was in front of them as they were walking to the Food Pantry, formerly the Super Chik.
He said Leggette "started saying some words to them" and then "turned around and started shooting at him and Mr. Tisdale," the report states.
He said Leggette fired "three or four times."
Knox said there has been no definite determination of motive.
There were reports that Leggette and Tisdale were in an altercation about a week earlier but that has not been proven.
Investigators also talked to a witness who said Leggette showed him a silver handgun earlier in the day Wednesday.
Knox said investigators are trying to determine if previous reports are true that Leggette was a member of a gang. He did say Tisdale had no gang affiliation.
Knox warned anyone who may be helping protect Leggette that they are facing jail time also if they do not turn him in.
Anyone with any information on Leggette's whereabouts is urged to call Andrews Police at 264-8222.

FYI (LOL) Thanks, I will be more careful next time on my spelling. However on the flip side of that please read your comments before posting. "Just to help you help you out (LOL)" makes no sense. Also "you did managed to get your point across" is wrong. It should be "you did manage to get your point across". Please be more careful in the near future as your Grammatical errors denounce your intelligence. My condolences still go out to the family. Posted by LOL on 8/25/2008

Just to help you help you out (LOL). It's imperative that you use your spell check prior to correcting anyone on their spelling. Your incorrect spelling denounces your intelligence. Please take the time to use spell check in the near future. I highly suggest using www.dictionary.com. It is a very useful tool and can also help you with your grammatical errors as well. Please note the correct spelling for condolences. However, you did managed to get your point across. Posted by (LOL) FYI on 8/25/2008

First off my condolances go out to both families. I am sorry to hear that this happened and we need to put PRESSURE on the new police chief to start CLEANING the streets. This includes some of the "officers" under him. Many of you know the ones that are part of the problem. Secondly many of the posters are sympathetic with the alleged shooter. I dont know if the man is guilty but there is no excuse for shooting another human being when you could have called the law or just avoided the club. I am not saying that either man was in a gang but I wish that this gang nonsense would stop. Gangs CAUSE violence even if people say they join for protection. You want protection? Call the cops. Running with the pack only makes you another dog. Get a job and become something young people! I had nothing when I was coming up and I am not bragging when I say that I have made something of myself. You can too! If this post is read by ONE person who makes even the smallest change then it is worth a million hate filled post. If you are in a gang, you are not a man and need others to make you feel good about yourself and to back you up. On a final note MANY of the posters need to get english lessons along with spelling. Your writing makes you seem uneducated and thus does not reflect your thoughts well. I am not saying this to be mean but you need to be aware that there is a problem. Please be aware that there is alternatives to violence and being tough does not make you a man, RESPONSIBILITY makes you a man! Posted by LOL on 8/24/2008

My parents are natives of Andrews, S.C. I know the father of the young man killed and my heart and prayers goes out to him and his family. Such a tragedy! May you find comfort during this difficult time. Ms Brunson Fountain, Colorado Posted by Jacqueline Brunson on 8/24/2008

My Lord!! I can't believe the things that are going on in Andrews. It is nothing like what I remembered growing up there as a child. It breaks my heart to read some of the comments listed. Some of the things mentioned on this page really don't make the individual who wrote the comments any better than the individuals committing these crimes. Instead of leaving negative comments we need to stop and pray for both families. This is a very unfortunate situation for both families. Revenge is not up to us. God says "vengeance is mine..." So lets not encourage this type of behavior by justifying why this should or shouldn't have happened. This next generation is not living even close to what our forefathers fought so hard for! I can't imagine what they are saying as they look upon us right now. Our mothers and fathers are becoming younger and younger and many of them are depending on the street or welfare to take care of them. I know that the individuals in this particular situation come from working parents. I am referring to the other 75% or so who don't. I never dreamed of coming home to Andrews and having to constantly watch my back because their is a strong possibility that I may get robbed or caught in a crossfire. Andrews has a gang?????? I just want to express to both families my sincere gratitude. I know that we don't purposely raise our children to become involved in street crime/illegal activity... etc. No matter how this situation comes out, God will get the FINAL word. That's why it's important to have the Word of God rooted in our children while they are in the womb. Once they are of age and choose to live another lifestyle, our job is completed. Its not our fault but its a decision that he/she choose to make and will have to live with. God will reward our obedience as parents. He will issue his judgment in due time. Guess what? Sorry to disappoint you but if Dominic did commit this crime and prays and asks God to forgive him...Guess what? He is forgiven and their is nothing we can do about it. That's why it is so important to get to the root of the problem and cut it off before it begins to grow so this doesn't happen to another innocent person. However I know this just recently happened and everyone emotions are high but we have to pray for restoration for the families as well as many of others who have been hurt by this tragedy. Healing will come in due time. Readers please realize that it is so easy to point the finger when you are standing on the opposite side. Remember you don't have the perfect life either. We all fall short. We all have our own demons. I'm sure you have some skeletons that you would choose to keep out of the newspaper/media! Lastly I want to say to the readers, if you are in Andrews, start by making a difference. Use this as a wake up call to the city. We are loosing to many of our young black brothers and sisters to street crime, drugs, AIDS etc.. It's time to take our town back. Encourage our young people to finish school so they can go to College and get a decent job. Where are our praying mothers? Instead of waiting to march the streets on Martin Luther King Day for freedom... March for our young people. We are losing to many of them. For my older readers... we have to make a change too. We can't address our young people the same way our parents talked to us. We need to learn there language and talk to them in a way that they will understand and is also not degrading. Times have changed.. The generation has changed...We can change our methods...BUT God's Word will never change. Andrews I am praying for you and I am praying for the families that are going through this tragedy. God Bless You Posted by Former Resident Born & Raised on 8/23/2008

Please learn how to spell before yall write on this page. The incident just happen in andrews. Regardless of what happen a gun shouldn't have been pulled. The bullet could've been for anybody how that went down. People need to grow up and get a job for those that doesn't have one. The tisdale/mitchum family is a big family so before u make a comment on here do some research on his family. Now some people is scared to come out of there homes because of the violence that's going on. GROW UP,GET A JOB,GO TO CHURCH. ALSO, He needs to turn himself to make things much better for everybody including himself, and if people can't fight 1 on 1 don't fight at all. Posted by keke on 8/23/2008

From reading what Someone Who Knows Leggette you need to stop! Do some research Leggette is known to be a trouble maker look at his rap sheet and look at Tony's no comparison. Realize that Tony and his cousins along with others have always hung tight that doesnt mean that they are a gang. But at the same time the hands of one is the hands of all. But in this case if you're saying this and that about being a man Leggette should have waited til officers got there to be arrested if be was bold enough to kill Tony. Look what my tax money is being used for the search of a young and dumb indivisual. So what do you call him now i know one thing HE"S NOT A MAN. If Leggette thought he was in that much danger why didnt he report what was happening? Who gave him the right to play GOD. Put yourself in the shoes of the Mitchum and Tisdale family. There are lots of kids that are one way at home and are off the chain when they are not around family. These days in time instead of letting your child fall being a victim of the streets GUIDE THEM, MOLD THEM, AND TEACH THEM AND JUST PRAY IT ALL PAYS OFF. So TO SOME ONE WHO KNOWS LEGGETTE........TURN HIM HIM IN SOUNDS LIKE HE'S HIDING OUT AT YOUR HOUSE. Posted by Take Time on 8/22/2008

Really the police can not say that Leggette was the shooter because as it is told in the paper that he had something over his head. Also in the paper it states that Antonio was not a gang banger which is a lie because half of jones ave are gang banger. Everyone wants to make like Tisdale was so holy and thou when he and other jumped Leggette and another friend at the nightclub known as Take A Break. Causing Leggettes' friend to have stapples in his head. Tisdale and his gang related friends were jumping Leggette and others for about 2-3 weeks now but the family did not have the ordasaty to put any of that in the paper. Because they want everyone to think Tisdale is so incent but he is not he has done just about the same amount of damage Leggette has done. So for the family and everyone else before you look down on someone for protecting thimselves look down on Tisdale for what he did or might of done leading Leggette to do what he did or what everyone clam he has done. But I am not the type of person to say Leggette did it on purpose and I am not going to miss judge anyone child because I would not want anyone to miss judge mine. But a lot of people know Leggette and alot of them feal that if he did it he did it to protect himself from Tisdale and friends. Because alot of people knows what really happened can any of them be a man a tell the parents of Tisdale why if not there parents need to teach them how to be a man? Because if u can't say because this gang or that gang is goin to get you cant be a man. Posted by Some One Who Knows Leggette on 8/21/2008

I am not a resident of Andrews but go there only when I have to. It does not matter if it's Leggette or another person. Andrews has a bad name right now where young guy's are concern. How many young guy's have went to jail within the past year. What is the town of Andrews doing to improve thing's for the young guy's to do. Don't alway's point a finger @ the parents alway's 'cause they are out making a living for the rest of the family. then they are some that pat the backs of these guy's & think it's ok for them to rob, steal or make babies @ a young age. This town need to turn to the worship Leaders & have a week of revival in the streets to see if they can reach maybe just a hand full of these guy's. What happen to the day's of enjoying the football games. Are the games safe anymore? Is just going to get a bit to eat safe. My heart truly goes out to the Tisdale/Mitchum family because Tony was somebody. I just pray that there is a turn around in these youg kids, especially the ones that hang out at the corner store or fell as though they are above the low & try to sell drugs. Worship Leaders get together & WIN your town back. Posted by Outside looking in on 8/21/2008
