Andrews High all-star Michelle McGee signed Monday to continue her basketball career at Clinton Jr. College.

McGee, daughter of Mina and Theodis McGee, completed her career at Andrews by being named all-region and all-state and was selected to play in the North-South All-Star Game as a senior. She averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds,

"Michelle was a premier player in our area and in the state," said Andrews girls basketball coach Bethany Giles-Burgess. "She will be an athlete hard to replace here at Andrews. Everyone knew to beware of Andrews' 'big girl.' She will be a tremendous asset at Clinton."

McGee's teams had a record of 85-25 during her career and the Yellow Jackets were Lower State champs during her sophomore year.

Clinton coach Roderick Woods said he has been following McGee's career since she was a freshman.

"She does a lot of things well, handling the ball, stepping outside to face the basket and playing with her back to the basket," Woods said. "I like a player who can do more than one thing. Michelle has a variety of talents and is usually the smartest player on the court."

Clinton assistant coach Tron Williams said he likes McGee's footwork and upper body strength. "We need that at Clinton," he added.

Both Woods and Williams came to Andrews Monday morning for McGee's signing.

She said she wants to spend the summer getting in better shape before beginning her college career. She said she likes Clinton because of its family atmosphere.

"I think I can be successful there," McGee said.
