The Rev. Art Hallman is the new pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Georgetown.

Hallman and his wife, Jean, moved to Georgetown after spending the past nine years at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Prosperity.

Hallman says most of his career in the ministry has been spent in the Midlands counties of Lexington, Richland and Newberry.

"We have never lived at the coast," Hallman said, "and this is a good bunch of folks. Trinity is not as big as St. Luke's, but there is a lot of enthusiasm.

"It's a good place to be for the next several years."

Trinity Lutheran is located at 1605 S. Fraser St. in Georgetown.

Hallman has been pastor at both small and large churches and spent 10 years working for the S.C. Department of Mental Health.

He is a graduate of Newberry College and the Lutheran Southern Seminary in Columbia.

He and his wife have one daughter, Erin, who lives in Batesburg-Leesville and works for Midlands Orthopedic.
