Police arrested a 44-year-old Georgetown woman for stealing a credit card belonging to Duncan United Methodist Church.
An employee of the church was in CVS Pharmacy April 22 and accidentally dropped the credit card inside the store. She didn't notice the card was missing until she returned to her car.
When she went back in and could not find the card, the surveillance camera film was reviewed and the suspect was seen picking it up. She then walked to the pharmacy and dropped off a prescription.
The suspect was wearing a shirt with the name of a Georgetown restaurant. Police asked the pharmacist for the woman's name. They went to the restaurant and found the woman. At first she denied taking the card but later admitted she took it. When she saw the officers walk into the restaurant, she walked to the restroom and threw it in the trash.
She was charged with larceny.
* A large crowd of arguing men were on the corner of Front and King streets Friday night and it appeared they were about to fight when police arrived. The men all ran in different directions and were not apprehended.
A little while later, police were called back to the area because of a man carrying a baseball bat. The man, who appeared to be intoxicated, was detained and questioned. He said he was walking around protecting the city. He later said he was looking for the people from the earlier altercation.
He was arrested for disorderly conduct.
* A Wal-Mart security guard watched as a woman was shoplifting inside the store April 21.
The 28-year-old Highmarket Street resident was seen placing makeup, CDs and some women's clothing in her pocketbook. When she walked out of the store, the guard followed her and detained her until police arrived.
When the officer asked the woman what happened, she said, "They caught me shoplifting," so she was taken to jail.
* When officers responded to an alarm at Piggly Wiggly on Highmarket Street early Tuesday, they noticed graffiti spray painted on the back fence of the building. The letters "G-town" and "MGB" were painted on the fence.
There are no suspects.
* A Bayview woman said she and her family were threatened by a male neighbor Monday. The woman said she was taking her morning walk at about 11 a.m. when the man drove up behind her in his vehicle and started yelling at her.
She said his stereo was so loud she could not understand what the man said.
The woman said she walked home and the man drove by her house several times, so she called her husband and asked him to return home.
While the woman and her husband were standing in their driveway, the man drove up and shouted that he was on probation and then proceeded to say he had a gun under his seat and he was going to shoot the woman.
The woman said she was going to sign a warrant against the man.
* A Duke Street man said his landlord broke into his home Monday.
The man said he knew his landlord was responsible because he told him he was going to do it. The tenant said when he returned from work the lock on his door had been cut and his TV was gone.
Police talked to the landlord, who said it was his house and his TV so he did nothing wrong. He was told even though it was his house he could not legally enter and take things. The report does not indicate if the tenant will prosecute.
* An attempted burglary was reported at the Kaminski House on Front Street Sunday night. There was evidence someone had tried to force open a door on the side of the building, which activated the alarm.
Damage is estimated at $50.
* After receiving a tip that a man in a Chrysler 300 was dealing drugs, police responded to the Hawkins Street area late Saturday night. While en route, the officers spotted the car at the Sunoco gas station on Highmarket Street. Officers activated their blue lights and the driver sped away. At a speed of about 90 mph, the driver fled west on Highmarket with officers close behind.
By the time he reached the city limits, the speed reached 120 mph.
The chase continued to the Nine Mile Curve area, where the fleeing suspect turned onto Highway 17 toward Sampit. He drove through a gas station parking lot at about 85 mph, the report states.
The man drove down several other roads and then jumped out of the car in front of a house near Gasque Drive. He ran away and was not located. His ID card was left in the car, so warrants have now been issued for his arrest.
Andrews Police
* Officers arrested a Laurie Street man and a Persimmon Avenue man April 26 for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within close proximity of a school and public playground and drug paraphernalia.
Police were called to the parking lot of Arbor Place Apartments to check out complaints of four men breaking bottles and making noise. The reporting officer noticed four passengers in the vehicle and saw a cooler in the backseat with an open bottle of beer. The officer also saw a purple bag. When one of the subjects pulled up the armrest, an officer noticed a handgun.
During a search of the car, officers discovered a 40 caliber handgun with no bullets in the chamber, which belonged to the Persimmon Avenue subject. The purple bag contained 57 green plastic bags, a black digital scale and 60 bags of marijuana (a total of 0.17 oz.).
Police arrested the two men and questioned but did not arrest the remaining two passengers. The subjects were booked at the Andrews Police Department and transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center.
* Police arrested a Robinson Road man April 26 for stealing about $5 in gas and two bottles of Schlitz Malt Liquor.
A Jack's Mini Mall employee alerted police about the shoplifting when the man left the store earlier that day. On his first visit, he stole $5 in gas. He returned to the store later in the day and stole the liquor. When police arrived at the store, the subject had the bottles in his hands. One was open and half empty.
The subject was arrested for shoplifting and open container and transported to Georgetown County Detention Center.
* Two Kingstree women got into trouble April 21 for violating a court order meant to keep them away from each other.
The manager of the Exxon Station in Andrews called police when a Sugar Lane woman brushed shoulders with a Flora Street woman inside the building. According to the report, the Flora Street woman was arrested by the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Department for assaulting the Sugar Lane woman.
Both women work in the Exxon building -- one at the gas station and one at the adjoining Subway. The store manager said she plans to press charges.
* A Clair Street man called police April 21 to report that a North Beech Avenue woman borrowed his 2007 Roketa scooter the day before and never returned it.
The complainant said he lent the scooter to the subject thinking she would ride it around the block and return. She did not return the scooter, however.
The scooter's value is estimated at $750. The case is active.
* A North Beech Street woman told police an unleashed dog attacked her juvenile daughter and her daughter's friend April 16.
According to the juveniles, they were walking on West Elmwood Street when the dog started chasing them. They said they had to keep jumping a fence to keep away from the dog, which tore their clothes and scratched them.
The dog's owner, however, said the juveniles saw the dog in her yard and started screaming and running.
She said the dog "thought the juveniles were playing" and did go to them but did not scratch them or tear their clothes.
Reports will be filed.
