Georgetown has been named one of the top ten bed and breakfast destinations as ranked by Coastal Living Magazine.
"Stay overnight in a Georgetown bed-and-breakfast and step back in time," the magazine says about Georgetown. "Visitors can turn in at a renovated circa-1765 Colonial on the historic waterfront, while others bunk at a pre-Civil War plantation featured in the blockbuster hit 'The Patriot.'"
Specifically, the article mentions Harbor House, "with guest-room views of Winyah Bay" and Mansfield Plantation which "has nine rooms within three guesthouses nestled on nearly 1,000 private acres."
The recognition is a big win for Georgetown because of the vast amounts of free publicity it is generating. The article was not only published in Coastal Living Magazine but was also featured on CNN.com. It gives a phone number and website -- visitgeorgetowncountysc .com. -- for potential visitors to use.
The other nine cities that made the top ten are: Santa Barbara, Calif.; Troncones, Mexico; Duluth, Minn.; Annapolis, Md.; Petersburg, Ala.; Key West, Fla.; Yachats, Oregon; Cape May, N.J.; and Kennebunkport, Maine.
