The Waccamaw High golf team won its first state championship since 2001 on Tuesday.
The Warriors (7-1-1) wrapped up the two-day Class AA state tournament at True Blue Plantation with a total of 620, a score three shots better than that of runner-up Bishop England.
Bruce Michaels two-day total of 150 led Waccamaw and was good enough for third place overall individually. Prescott Hughes and Mick Lankford each finished with a 154, tying for fifth in the individual ranks.
Michaels, Hughes and Lankford were all named to the All-State team.
