Georgetown Police • An 11-year-old girl was assaulted during a block party on Gilbert Street Saturday night, her father told police. According to the girl, she and some of her school classmates got into a verbal altercation and they started making comments about her mother. When she responded, the girls “jumped” her and began “punching, kicking and slapping her on the face,” the report states. When the girl’s father saw what was happening, he ran over to help his daughter. He told police he did want to press charges. • A report was filed against a 24-year-old Myrtle Beach man who has allegedly been harassing a female worker at Taco Bell on Church Street. The mother of a juvenile female said the man stopped at the restaurant May 16 and started flirting with her. When she said she was 16, the man said he only wanted sex not a relationship. When she said she was not interested, the man reportedly asked how much it would cost for her to change her mind. “She became offended and told him she was not a prostitute and could not be bought,” the report states. “He replied it would not be buying her if he just spent money on her and bought her nice things.” She once again said “no” and reported the proposition to her manager. The suspect returned to Taco Bell the next day and started following the girl when she walked over to the nearby Alltel store. He offered to pay her phone bill but she said it was her boyfriend’s phone. He continued his proposition by begging for sex and the teen continued her refusal. She said she wants to take out a restraining order against the man. • The new hot item for thieves seems to be storm drain covers which are made of heavy metal and can be turned in for cash at salvage yards. Three storm drain covers were reported stolen from Cravens Grant within the past week. The value of the “S shaped” cover is $870. Another storm drain cover was reported stolen from in front of the pool at The Oaks Plantation. Police contacted a local metal company and were given the name and address of a man who may have sold that cover. Both cases are still being investigated. • A woman from Pate Court returned home at 10:20 a.m. Sunday and saw her door had been kicked in. A gold necklace valued at $200 and an $800 gold pendant were reportedly stolen.
