A Plantersville man may try to find a way to keep himself from talking in his sleep after an incident Monday night.
The man, according to his wife, got drunk and went to sleep. While he was snoozing, he started talking about a woman he had been with in the past. His wife wanted to know why he was dreaming about the woman, so she tried to wake him up. When she did, they started arguing. During the argument, he hit her in the head and left the house before deputies arrived.
The case will be presented to a magistrate for a warrant to be issued.
* While conducting a routine property check of the Waccamaw Intermediate School construction site on the night of May 9, a deputy saw a car that should not have been there.
There was no one in the vehicle but the engine was warm so the deputy started walking through the building and found two suspects -- a 17-year-old female and 19-year-old male in a closet.
When asked what they were doing inside the school, they said they had an argument and wanted some place to talk. They said they drove all over and could not find an appropriate place.
They said they got inside through a hole in a wall that does not yet have a window.
* The Sheriff's dog team was called on to help locate a shooting suspect in Williamsburg County May 8. The previous evening a man allegedly shot another person near the Hemingway town limits. The suspect was found by Hemingway Police but fled into some woods. The dogs picked up the suspect's trail and led officers to a shirt believed to belong to the shooter but he was not found.
* A woman from Kathleen Lane in the Pleasant Hill area said her 35-year-old brother has been living with her and when she confronted him about the dirty house he went into a rage.
She said he started cursing and charging at her, so she grabbed a pitchfork to defend herself. That's when her brother picked up a large pipe and threw it at her but missed.
A cousin then held the man back to keep him from assaulting his sister.
The woman locked herself in her house. Her brother began yelling that he was going to kill her. He was later let inside. He got his clothes and left the house.
Warrants were signed against the man for simple assault.
* A deputy clocked a vehicle on Highmarket Street being driven 90 mph late May 7.
He initiated a traffic stop but the driver did not stop and accelerated to 115 mph while driving east. The driver stopped briefly near Reservoir Street and his passenger jumped out.
The driver sped away again, leading the officer on a chase through the Historic District. The pursuit continued to East Bay Park. The driver ran a stop sign and ran into a ditch on East Bay Street. He jumped out and tried running away but was quickly apprehended.
The 23-year-old Myrtle Beach man was arrested for failure to stop for a blue light.
* A man accused of cutting a 20-year-old Myrtle Beach man on the face May 7 has not been found.
The victim said he walked up to talk to a friend outside a home on Waccamaw Drive in Garden City. The suspect was already there and said "I hear you have been talking (expletive) about me." He then pulled out a knife and started swinging it at the victim, striking him on the face.
The suspect and a woman fled the area in a car.
* Deputies were sent to the area of Brookgreen Gardens at about 10 p.m. May 7 after receiving a report of a woman lying in a ditch. The woman was found and was OK. She said a man had picked her up from a park in Myrtle Beach. As they were driving around, he propositioned her for sex, and when she refused he dropped her off somewhere on Sandy Island Road.
She said she is homeless and requested a ride to Myrtle Beach from the officer. She was driven to the Horry County line.
* A man from Kentucky said someone broke into a closet in his condo on Twelve Oaks Drive in Pawleys Island. He said he had not been at the condo since November. Georgetown Police
* Charges are possible against a West End resident accused of stealing copies of the Georgetown Times.
The newspaper was contacted Wednesday by an employee of George's Restaurant on Highmarket Street who said someone had been taking papers out of the box without paying for them.
The witness said she saw a female exit a Cadillac and put one quarter in the machine. She then removed all the newspapers and took them back to her car and drove away. The witness wrote down the woman's license plate number and provided it to investigators.
This same woman has taken the newspapers from that location for the past couple of weeks.
Using the tag number, police were able to obtain a photo of the woman. It was shown to the witness who provided a positive identification.
More than $100 worth of newspapers have been taken, the police report states.
* The crew aboard a tug boat was quarantined on the vessel while it was docked at the State Ports Authority in Georgetown Tuesday.
The tugboat -- named the Island Watcher -- was en route from Charleston to North Carolina with a barge when it began experiencing engine trouble. The captain told deputies he would normally tie up at International Paper Co. but he did not feel safe doing that because the pier is falling apart.
The deputy contacted the Ports Authority in Charleston about the tug being docked in Georgetown. He was told it would be OK for the tugboat to stay there that night but if anyone got off the boat they would be arrested immediately for trespassing.
The captain said he understood. He was also told if this ever happens again, he is to contact the Coast Guard before approaching the Ports Authority.
* Someone stole a $690 television from Prudential Source One Properties on Front Street early Wednesday morning after breaking the glass out the front door. A nearby business owner who lives above her store told police she heard the glass breaking at about 3:30 a.m. There are no suspects.
* Two men -- ages 21 and 23 -- told police they were injured when they tried to break up a fight involving a knife Monday afternoon.
The pair said they were walking down Hawkins Street when they saw a group of people surrounding two females who were fighting.
They said one of the females was holding a steak knife. She used the knife to cut the two men as they tried to intervene. One man received an inch-long gash on his left elbow. The other was cut on the right hand.
However, the men gave conflicting stories about where on Hawkins Street the fight occurred and police could find no evidence of such a disturbance.
The officers talked to several residents who said they did not see or hear a fight. When confronted with this information, the two men refused to cooperate further.
* Police were sent to the Sunoco station on Highmarket Street Sunday night because of a juvenile with a gun and knife threatening someone.
A 58-year-old man said he was riding his bike in the area when the suspect tried to cut his bike tires with a knife. He pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim who ran inside the station to call 911.
He said there were other juveniles with the suspect but they did not do anything.
During a search of the area, police saw a teen matching the description, so he was patted down. The officer retrieved a box cutter and a pair of pliers from his pocket.
While being questioned he denied ever having a gun. He was booked and then released to his grandmother.
