The following reports were collected from Georgetown police and county deputies:
Molotov cocktails thrown There were some scary moments for a woman who was staying at her aunt’s house on Parkersville Road in Pawleys Island this week. At about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday the 50-year-old woman heard a “big bang hit the house” so she jumped up and saw flames outside the window. She ran outside and saw it was a Molotov cocktail that was burning. While she was outside, the suspects drove by again and threw a second bottle of flames. The woman said there were about six people in a pickup truck who threw the bottles. Deputies received a tip latter in the morning that the suspects may be at a nearby hotel but they were not located. Fortunately, there was very little damage to the home.
Car shot? An Andrews woman called deputies Saturday morning saying she believes her boyfriend may have shot her car. The deputy looked at the damage and reports it appears it was caused by road debris, not gunfire. The woman said she never heard a gun and she did not see her boyfriend do anything but they had an argument earlier that day.
Impound lot theft The Sheriff’s Office fell prey to a thief over the weekend. Deputies who were taking a stolen motorcycle to the lot on Browns Ferry Road Sunday night saw someone had cut a hole in the fence. They then saw that the windshields on several cars had been busted and the radios had been removed. The case has been turned over to investigations and there are no suspects.
Deadbeat diners Four diners who seemed to enjoy a meal at the Murrells Inlet Waffle House are accused of leaving without paying. The manager said the group ordered $32 worth of food June 26 and he heard no complaints during their visit. Afterwards, three of the four went to their vehicle while the other man stayed inside. He walked to the register and said he would not pay because of the lack of customer service and the quality of the food. The manager gave deputies the license tag number of the vehicle which is registered to a West Virginia address.
Urinating visitor While patrolling the Murrells Inlet area late Sunday night, deputies heard some females screaming from the area of Spuds on Highway 17 Business. They ran over to see what was wrong and they saw a man urinating off of a dock in plain view of people on the Marshwalk. When a deputy walked up and asked the man if he was urinating, he said “yeah, I am.” The man, who deputies say was intoxicated, was charged with disorderly conduct.
