The following incidents were reported to Georgetown police and the County Sheriff’s Office:

Concerning conditions
EMS called for deputies to respond to a home on Thurmond Drive June 3 after finding a 70-year-old man was living in very unsanitary and dangerous conditions.
Deputies report there was no food in the man’s house and it was infested with roaches. There were roaches all over the floor, ceiling and stove.
Because the man did not have anything to eat for quite some time, his blood sugar level was low and he was transported to the hospital.
According to a nurse, the man is supposed to be receiving monthly disability checks but is unsure if he has been getting them since he had no food.
Deputies also talked to the man’s sister who had another explanation for his conditions.
She told deputies, the report states, her brother “needs to pray and that is why he was in that shape.”
The man’s wife said her brother-in-law gets her husband’s checks and buys their food and pays their bills.
After investigating, authorities determined no crime had occurred.

Unattended child
A 3 or 4 year old child was found swimming in a pond near the 11th hole of the golf course at Wachesaw East June 4. A woman who was playing golf spotted the child and saw he had no adult supervision She took the child out of the pond and took him to his home.
His parents were asleep, the report states.
The boy’s father said his son “slipped out” of the house while they were napping. He said he did not know the child could unlock the back door. He said he is going to instal an alarm that will sound if the door opens.

Kidnapping report
An 18-year-old woman said she was kidnapped for a short period of time and was assaulted by her abductors June 5.
The Georgetown woman told police she was walking on Duke Street when a car pulled up and stopped beside her. Then a passenger jumped and forced her inside the vehicle, the victim explained.
She said one of the men in the back seat ripped her shirt and another “punched her in the face a couple of times.”
The woman began to fight back and was released from the car on Orange Street.
She said there were four people in the car but since it was dark she could not give a good description of them.

5th shoplifting charge
A 34-year-old Georgetown man who, police say, has a habit of shoplifting was allegedly at it again June 1.
The man was spotted stuffing ribeye steaks in the front of his pants inside the North Fraser Street Food Lion.
The man was detained by store workers until police arrived.
Because it was his 5th offense, he was charged with a felony and was taken to jail.

Stolen fishing gear
Six rods and reels, valued at a total of $6,000, were reported stolen from a boat belonging to Reel Crazy Charters. The boat was docked at Marlin Quay Marina when the theft was reported June 3.

Decaying dogs
Two dogs that had been dead for quite some time were discovered at a home on David Ray Road June 3.
Deputies were called to the scene after neighbors noticed a foul odor.
When an animal control officer arrived, he noticed the stench got worse as he approached the back yard of the residence.
“I could see one dog dead in a pen decomposing,” the officer states in his report. “The other dog had died in a garage.”
A neighbor said she had contacted animal control about two years ago because the dog’s owner had not been feeding the animals.
Neighbors have offered to help the woman care for the dogs but she declined those offers, the report states.
No one was home when the officer arrived, so a note was left on the door asking the woman to contact animal control.

Stolen laptop
On June 4, a teacher at Carvers Bay High reported a laptop was missing from the school. She said the laptop was used by different students in different classrooms.
