A Plantersville man and his girlfriend were robbed at gunpoint Sunday afternoon while attempting to remove a tree from the roadway near their home.
The 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman were driving on Phillipi Lane off Jackson Village Road when they came upon the tree blocking the road.
When the man got out of his vehicle, two men — both holding guns — jumped out from the woods.
The report states the suspects pointed the guns at the victims and “demanded U.S. currency.”
The woman, still in the car, began to back the vehicle up. That’s when one or both of the suspects opened fire. One of the bullets struck the vehicle’s windshield causing the woman to drive into a ditch.
The woman then exited the vehicle and ran to her grandmother’s house which is close to the incident location.
Her boyfriend stayed with the car because the gunmen said they would kill him.
The men then grabbed the woman’s purse from the car and ran back into the woods.
On the other side of the woods, they got into a silver Buick and fled the scene.
The suspects are described as black males with slim builds. The approximate heights of the two suspects are 5’6” and 5’10”.
