The National Hurricane Center is keeping an eye on the low pressure system that brought our area all the rain this week.
They say there is a 50% chance it could develop into a tropical system — a tropical depression or tropical storm — over the next day of so.
The center of the low pressure is located about 120 miles southeast of Myrtle Beach and has started taking on more tropical characteristics. Showers and thunderstorms have increased near the center of the system
“It could become a tropical depression or tropical storm as it moves slowly southward or westward,” an advisory from the NHC says.
Because the system is near the coast, the National Weather Service has increased the rain chance for Sunday and Sunday night to 40% and 60%, respectively.
