Carvers Bay loses to St. James

Carvers Bay boys lost out to St. James of Murrells Inlet Wednesday, Dec. 9, by 16 points.

The Sharks of St. James defeated the Bears of Georgetown County 62 to 46.

The girls varsity lost by 19 points. The score was St. James 38, Carvers Bay 19.

Boys varsity

Angelo Brown led Carvers Bay with 17 points. He also had 3 offensive rebounds, 2 defensive and 2 assists. Tyrone Brown had 4 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Da'Shaun Aiken made 6 points, Teondre Bromell had 11 points, 5 offensive rebounds, 6 blocks and 3 steals.

Tevin Richard scored 3 points, had 3 offensive rebounds, 1 defensive, 3 steals and 2 assists.

Alton Nesbitt scored 2 points, Rayshod Pittman 1 and Chris Scott 2 points.

For the Sharks, Marshall McClary had a good night with 19 points, including two 3-pointers.

Other scorers for St. James include Andy Cox with 9, Jamal Allston with 11, Kyle Pyatt with 10, including two 3-pointers.

Nobody fouled out.

Carvers Bay led at the end of the first quarter, 14 to 10. In the second period, St. James took the lead with 19 points to just 8 for Carvers Bay, leaving the score at half-time 29-22 for the Sharks.

After the break Carvers Bay came close, scoring 15 to St. James' 16. But in the final period, St. James scored 14, to 9 for the Bears.

The final score was 62-46 in favor of the Sharks.

Girls varsity

Jasmine Eddy led the Lady Bears in scoring with 5 points, followed by Danielle Greene at 4 points.

There were several players at 2 points each: Dominee Curry, Jia Greene and Shantell Linnen.

For St. James, Brianna Dickerson was leading scorer at 11 points, followed by Tyeshia Allston at 10 points. Others were Charisma Rodriguez 5, Stephanie Roberts 6, Monica Smalls 3 and Elaina Prevatte 3.

Carvers Bay travels to Georgetown Friday at 6 p.m.
