The Harlem Superstars basketball team will be in Carvers Bay this week to mentor students and face off against a "dream team" at the high school.
The events are sponsored by the Carvers Bay Bears All Sports Booster Club.
The basketball players will stop by Brown's Ferry, Plantersville and Pleasant Hill elementary schools and Carvers Bay Middle during the day on Thursday, Feb. 16. They will speak to students about the importance of education, respecting others, setting goals, working hard, listening to parents and teachers, staying away from drugs and alcohol, character building and peer pressure.
At 6:30 p.m., the Superstars will take on the Dream Team: Andrew Fox, William Joye, Matthew Richard, Terry Cox, Jeff Mezzatesta, Doug Henderson, Lee Glover and Joe Epps.
The referees for the game will be Ronald Weaver and Nate Thompson.
Along with the competition, there will be trick shots, dunks and a chance for kids to participate.
Tickets are $7 in advance and can be purchased at the high school or middle school. Admission will be $8 at the door.
