Bulldogs' cross country teams excited

• Going to Lower State

Georgetown runners on the boys' and girls' cross country teams will be heading to Columbia Saturday for the Lower State Championship.

The top 12 teams and the top 45 individuals not on a team will run in the state meet on Nov. 6, also at the Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.

The Georgetown teams competed last Thursday in a Region VIII-AAA match at Market Commons in Myrtle Beach.

The Georgetown boys took 4th place with Brandon Cribb taking top spot for the Bulldogs, running with a time of 18:38. He was followed by Spencer Morgan with a 19:06, P.J. Brachna 19:15, Mac Jordan 19:40, Riley Jordan 19:59, Tripp Cooper 20:02 and Matthew Moore 21:01. All of the boys will advance to Lower State to be held in Columbia on Oct. 30.

Cooper is Georgetown's youngest runner to advance to Lower State. He is a 7th grader at Georgetown Middle School.

The girls took 5th place with Kateland Todd earning top honors. She ran a 21:44 and made the All-Region team. Savannah Lambert, an 8th grader at Georgetown Middle, finished with a 22:09 and also earned a spot on the All-Region team.

They were followed by Halli Daniel with a 24:28, Andie Powers 26:47, Rebekah Parsons 27:02 and Madeline Young 27:48. Kateland, Savannah and Halli will advance to the Lower State competition as well.

In the region meet, Myrtle Beach boys won (33), followed by St. James (45), Socastee (58), Georgetown (109), Wilson (122) and North Myrtle Beach (142).

For the girls, Myrtle Beach (39) also won, with St. James (58), North Myrtle Beach (77), Wilson (90), Georgetown (90) and Socastee (154) following.
