A week after Congressman Henry Brown came under fire from one of his announced opponents in next year’s election, County Council issued a proclamation in support of the 1st Congressional District representative.
Brown, the resolution states, has “exemplified efficient and effective government throughout almost a decade of service” as congressman.
The resolution continues by saying Georgetown County has benefited from Brown’s leadership.
He has “consistently supported Georgetown County’s port and dredging efforts.”
The resolution continues by stating Brown has helped with the improvements at the Georgetown Airport.
“Georgetown County Council wishes to recognize...Brown for his accomplishments...and for serving the people and voters of Georgetown County,” the resolution supporting the Republican congressman concludes.
Last week, Carroll Campbell III — an announced GOP candidate for Brown's seat — accused Brown of not doing enough for Georgetown’s port.
"He either did not do the work he claimed he did for Georgetown or he simply lacks the ability to get things done in the modern, fast pace of Washington," Campbell said of Brown. "There are multiple incidences all over the nation where other ports received funding as directed by the Corps. Charleston received funding, funding for needed work, however Georgetown got none."
Brown's office said he has requested $11 million for the port's needs but much less was awarded when budgets were finalized.

County council has no business endorsing any one, council is juts as crooked as Henry Brown!

And yet the Times continues to give Tumpy more press even when it won't give it to Congressman Brown. And here is little Jamie Shamderson attacking Brown. This is just too much fun.

Supporting and following through are two different things here. I could support funding for dredging as well, but if I do not follow through and make sure I get what I ask for, then it's all for publicity. I ask County Council or the Times to expand further and list specifically the times and successes of Brown's "consistent support" of dredging Georgetown's port. Requesting 11 million for the issue, then receiving far less shows a lack of follow through. If there are specifics to refute this, please let Georgetown County know.
