Ervin "Blueprint" Parker, former linebacker for Buffalo Bills and founder of the Blueprint Leadership Academy in Choppee, will host a a one-day football camp at Carvers Bay High on June 7.
The invited guests for the event -- open to players ages 13-19 -- include: Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers who played for the University of South Carolina and the Washington Redskins, former S.C. State head coach Willie Jeffries, former San Francisco '49er Jim Stuckey, former Clemson and Chicago Bear Donnell Woolford, former S.C. State/Seattle Seahawk Edwin Bailey, former Clemson and Dallas Cowboys player Keith Williams, and former Redskins All-Pro Charlie Brown.
Also scheduled is James "Bone Crusher" Smith, a former WBA heavyweight champion.
Parker said the main purpose of the day will be to help young men who have no male role models in their lives.
"So many young men are raised in a home without fathers and that's why there are so many problems in the school district. We knew football was a good way to get young men together," Parker said.
The events of the day will include a video presentation, tips on techniques, a skills workout and weightlifting presentation.
Lunch will be provided by Domino's Pizza.
The cost for the camp is $25. To register, go to www.blueprintleadership.org or call Parker at 545-8861.

Mr. Parker, I would like to thank you for being a positive role model in the community. I attended one of your camps in the early 80's. Dwight Clark and Rufus Bess were among the attendees. Just came across this article while surfing the net here in Bagram, Afghanistan. Thanks for all you do. Sincerely Kelson Humes Posted by on 5/11/2008

Sounds like a great idea, but where does the money go that is charged for the camp? Posted by on 5/9/2008

Hats off to Ervin Parker for this camp. Lots of success with this and many more to come. My name is Mary Ladson Thomas. I live in the same community with Ervin and appreciate all that he has been doing every year for the children. Thank you Ervin. Posted by on 5/7/2008

Fantastic to see this camp coming to the area. This area seems deplete of good role models for young men. Many complex reasons are involved for that, but I digress... Posted by No football wiz. on 5/6/2008
