Bank of America — hit hard by the sinkholes — leaving Georgetown

Nearly a year-and-a-half after the first one formed, the sinkholes in Georgetown are being blamed for another business casualty.
Bank of America has announced it will be closing the mobile unit it has been using since the sinkholes damaged its building.
Bank spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said the "physical challenges" the bank has faced since the sinkholes is one of the reasons the Georgetown branch will close June 14.
"We are not able to provide the kind of customer experience our customers deserve out of our mobile unit.  The banking center team at Pawley’s Island is ready to assist our Georgetown customers, or they may use our other channels such as ATM, mobile and online banking," Nastacie said.

Read much more on this story plus an update on the lawsuits filed by some who suffered damage from the sinkholes in Wednesday's Georgetown Times.

For a year and a half the corporate offices of Bank of America did nothing to help this local branch serve its customers.Hats off to the staff of this branch who did their best to provide services to their customers in a trailer. Why didn't BOA put them up in another building? They had to know people were closing their accounts and moving elsewhere. They had to know banking in a trailer hardly inspires customer confidence. The only reason Bank of America let this branch wither and die was due to greed .They know it will benefit their legal case to blame the sinkhole for the closing of the branch.Shame! I will never bank with Bank of America again!
