Andrews area teen killed in crash

An Andrews area teenager was killed in a single car crash that occurred early Sunday.
Megan Elizabeth Piatt, 17, of Suttons died from injuries she sustained when her 2008 Toyota sport utility lost control and struck an embankment.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. in Williamsburg County on Highway S-4545, Santee Road. Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight pronounced Piatt dead at the scene.
According to Lance Corporal Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the occupant was wearing a seatbelt but was not wearing the seatbelt correctly.
Piatt was a student at Williamsburg Academy.
She was active in sports, playing varsity basketball and softball.
She was involved in nearly every extra-curricular club and had been admitted by Midlands Technical College and Tri-County Technical College.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
