The two police officers who were hired by former Andrews Police Chief Jennifer Flowers which resulted in her firing have themselves been terminated.
When contacted by the Georgetown Times about the firings Tuesday, Mayor Rodney Giles said “I can’t talk to you right now.” When asked if there was another time he could speak, he said “I will have to see.” The call had not been returned by press time Tuesday.
Calls placed to Town Council members Sid Ackerman and Patsy Greene were also not returned.
According to a broadcast report, one of the two officers was let go Friday, the other termination took place Monday.
Flowers said she made the hires because they were needed in the department. She said one of the officers has a military background.
Last week, Giles told the Georgetown Times Flowers was fired because she hired the officers without consent.
He said Andrews has a strong-mayor form of government and all hires are supposed to be approved by the mayor.
