Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence H. Ballou Jr. of Georgetown announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda P. Ballou of Columbia, to Kurt F. Murphy of Columbia. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Murphy Jr. of Abbeville.
A graduate of Georgetown High School, Miss Ballou earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia College and a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. She is employed with the Budget and Control Board in the office of Research & Statistics.
Murphy is a graduate of Abbeville High School and the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is employed with AXA Advisors.
The wedding has been planned for May 17, 2008, at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church.
